Bob Dylan - Bournemouth International Center May 5, 2002

 Veel Bob Dylan de laatste dagen ,zowel op TV als op de radio.Dit naar aanleiding van Bob,s verjaardag a.s dinsdag.Veel discussie Bob Dylans live optreden,sommige menen dat hij beter daarmee kan stoppen,maar ik zou niet weten waarom.Bob doet gewoon zijn ding trekt nog steeds volle zalen,dus waarom zou hij?Onderstaand concert is nog een van zijn betere,speelt lekker gitaar en is nog redelijk bij stem.


If Not For You

"If Not for You" komt van het album album New Morning(1970).Het staat ook op het album Biograph en ook op Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II. Het nummer is gecoverd door George Harrison voor zijn album All Things Must Pass(1970) en door Bryan Ferry op zijn Dylan tribute album Dylanesque (2007) . Dylan en George Harrison speelde de song samen tijdens het Concert for Bangladesh in 1971.


Mama You Bin On My Mind

Opgenomen in Juni 1964 en het staat op The Bootleg Series 1-3 (1991), en een live versie op Live 1975 (2002)



Absolutely Sweet Marie

"Absolutely Sweet Marie" komt van het album Blonde on Blonde.
Dylan speelde het nummer nooit "Sweet Marie" nooit live tot 1988,sinsdien regelmatig o.a tijden zijn MTV Unplugged optreden.

Kwadendamme Blues Festival 2011

Heeft toch wel zijn voordeel ,zo,n bluesfestival bijna naast de deur.10 minuten op de fiets en je stapt de tent binnen.De aftrap op de vrijdag was voor onze Belgiese vriend Lightning Guy.Deze keer niet met zijn eigen band maar met zijn ,,Hound Dog Taylor,, project.Een prima begin van wat weer een prachtig festival zou worden.
Hierna Hamilton Loomis een jongen uit Texas prima gitarist met een uitstekende band,een mix van funk en blues.Keith Dunn al iets te veel gezien,dus tijd om wat bij te praten met oude bekenden,en een hapje te eten.Klein stukje Shawn Pittman en toen was het tijd voor de afsluiter ,,Hook Herrera,, en de Nederlandse band ,,Coupe De Grace,,


Hook Herrera & Coup De Grace

Hook maakte er een prachtige show van ,niet in de laatste plaats door zijn geweldige begeleidings band Coup De Crace.Natuurlijk met gitarist Sjors Nederlof in de hoofdrol ,maar zeker ook door de rythmsectie,met Jody van Ooyen op drums en Roelof Klijn op bas.

De eerste band gemist The Blue Clay,maar Wouter en zijn vrienden kom ik ongetwijfeld binnenkort weer tegen.Nog net een stukje van The Rhythm Chiefs meegepikt,maar gitarist Dusty Ciggaar zou ik later nog in aktie zien.
Ondertussen was Katinka Polderman op the Juke Joint Stage begonnen met haar optreden.Begeleid door The Mercymen gaf ze een zeer vermakelijk optreden weg.Voor niet Zeeuwen waarschijnlijk niet te verstaan,maar diegenen die het wel verstonden,rooie oortjes...
Op het grote podium ondertussen Rufs Bluescaravan (Girls with Guitars)
Drie dames en een prima drummer  Dani Wilde(UK)die al samenspeelde met o.a Robben Ford en Koko Taylor.Samantha Fish opende tijdens het grote Chicago bluesfestival 2010.En Cassie Taylor dochter van Otis Taylor


Rufs Blues Caravan
Stevige opener met Bitch (Stones) verder een goed optreden ,een behoorlijk sjachrijnig kijkende Cassie Tayor zorgde voor de meer soulgetinte nummers.Dani Wilde en vooral Samantha Fish zorgde voor een partij stevige rock/blues.Vooral de laatste zou ik wel eens met haar eigen bandje willen zien.





Brandon Santini
Zeker een van de verrassingen van dit festival.Prachtige bluesstem,prima mondharmonica spel,begeleid door een prima gitarist(Greg Gumpel)



Ian Siegel
Ian Siegel had een matige start ,de soundcheck liep al niet lekker .Problemen met zijn gitaar enz, enz.Gelukkig werd Dusty Ciggaar(The Rythm Chiefs) op het podium gevraagd,zodoende werd het toch nog een gedenkwaardig optreden.De schitterende toegift van Ian Siegal en zijn band met een nummer waarvan ik de titel vergeten ben ,maakte het optreden toch nog een van de hoogtepunten van het festival.

Daarna natuurlijk het tradionele optreden van The Juke Joint met organisator Peter Kempe in de gelederen.De mannen speelden een thuiswedstrijd en het dak ging er zoals gewoonlijk af!

Marcus Malone en zijn uitstekende band zorgde voor een prima afsluiting van het festival,de laatste bonnen werden opgemaakt en Kwadendamme Blues zat er weer op.

Heren/Dames organisatoren ,Bedankt!!!En volgend jaar zijn we zeker weer van de partij!

Sam"Lightnin"Hopkins

Sam "Lightnin’" Hopkins (15 maart 1912 — 30 January , 1982^[1]) was een country blues gitarist, uit Houston, Texas, United States.

Sam,,Lightnin,,Hopkins was al vroeg voorbestemd om een van de groten in de blueswereld te worden.


Going Down Slow

Hij leerde gitaarspelen van zijn oudere broer Joel Hopkins en op 8 jarige leeftijd stond hij al op de planken met Blind Lemon Jefferson en een paar jaar later met zijn neef Texas Alexander.



Baby Please Dont Go

Een platenmaatschappij(Alladin Records) kwam op het idee om hem samen te laten spelen met pianist Wilson ,,Thunder,,Smith en dat was het begin van een lange succesvolle carriere.


Mojo Hand



Hij schreef honderden songs waaronder o.a Walking Blues,Somebody,s got to go,Penentiary blues
en dat allemaal op zo,n 20 verschillende labels



In de jaren 60 profiteerde Lighntin Hopkins net als vele andere bluesartiesten van de opleving van de bluesmuziek en kreeg zijn carriere een nieuwe impuls.

Hij stierf in in 1982 in Houston Texas aan longkanker.

"Piece of My Heart" is a song written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. The song came to greater mainstream attention when Big Brother and the Holding Company covered the song in 1968 on their album Cheap Thrills and had a hit with it. The song has since been remade by several singers, including hit versions by Faith Hill in 1994 and Melissa Etheridge in 2005.

In 2004, the Big Brother and the Holding Company version of this song was ranked Number 344 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is also included among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

Rhiannon is the story of a lady that is from another world ~ called the Bright world ~ and she leaves her kingdom to become the wife of a king ~ a mortal king ~ but goddesses really can't marry mortal kings, if they do they lose their powers ~ their magic powers. And they don't lose the knowledge of them they just ~they know everything that's going to happen they just can'tdo anything about it. Which is a much more difficult way to live than not having magic powers is to not be able to use them and know exactly what's coming and to not be able to tell anybody. So she comes down and does her whole trip, and it's just a whole story ~ it's a wonderful story.


FLEETWOOD MAC - Rhiannon

And she has these birds that sing and that is the legend of the song of the birds of Rhiannon. And they sing this song that is uh, said takes away pain and suffering and if you hear the song you just sort of blank out and go away and then when you wake up everthing's all right. And it is a wonderful, wonderful story which I use a lot, because there's a lot of ~ there seems to be a lot of need for the story of Rhiannon around lately, because if people are sad or have lost anybody or something the story really makes a lot of sense.

The Byrds live at Hugh Hefner,s Play Boy After Dark TV Show

On September 28, the McGuinn-White-York-Parsons version of The Byrds debuted on, of all things, Hugh Hefner's Playboy After Dark TV show, performing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" and "This Wheel's On Fire," another Bob Dylan song demoed with The Band in Woodstock and no doubt heard that year on The Band's debut, Music From Big Pink. Not only was this one of the first shows for the post-Hillman Byrds lineup*, it's the first documented performance, to my knowledge, of Clarence playing his StringBender, which you can hear him work to great effect at the beginning of "Nowhere." I'm reasonably certain this was also the only gig in the band's career in which scantily clad go-go dancing and brandy snifters figured prominently. So you wanna be a rock 'n' roll star, indeed!

Clarence White
Clarence White (born Clarence LeBlanc) (June 7, 1944 – July 15, 1973) was a guitar player for Nashville West, The Byrds, Muleskinner, and the Kentucky Colonels. His parents were Acadians from New Brunswick, Canada. The father, Eric LeBlanc, Sr., played fiddle, guitar, banjo and harmonica, and his children, Roland, Eric Jr., Joanne and Clarence took up music at a young age.


Gene Parsons
Gene Victor Parsons is an American drummer, banjo player, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and innovative engineer, best known for his work with The Byrds from 1968 to 1972. Parsons has also released solo albums and played in bands including Nashville West, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Parsons Green. Parsons is credited with inventing the B-Bender (also known as the StringBender) along with Clarence White and the device is often referred to as the Parsons/White B-Bender, a trademarked name.


John York
John Foley York is an American bassist and guitarist, born in White Plains, New York on August 3, 1946. He is best known for his work with The Byrds, who he joined in September 1968 as a replacement for the band's original bass player Chris Hillman. He remained with the group until September 1969, when he was fired by the other three members of the band and replaced by Skip Battin.[3] Despite only being with The Byrds for a year, his bass playing and singing appear on two of the group's studio albums, Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde and Ballad of Easy Rider, as well as on the non-album single "Lay Lady Lay". York also wrote the song "Fido", which appears on Ballad of Easy Rider, and co-wrote the song "Candy", which is included on Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde. He also appears on the Columbia/Legacy Byrds' live album Live at the Fillmore - February 1969.


Roger Mcguinn
James Roger McGuinn (known professionally as Roger McGuinn, previously as Jim McGuinn, and born James Joseph McGuinn III on July 13, 19http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif42)[1] is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known for being the lead singer and lead guitarist on many of The Byrds' records. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with The Byrds.
