The Byrds - "Bells Of Rhymney "

The concert was shot before a live audience at the Moulin Rouge (originally opened in 1938 as the Earl Carroll Theater) club at 6230 Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles, California on November 29th, 1965.

/"The Bells of Rhymney" is a song by the American folk singer Pete Seeger, which consists of Seeger's own music accompanying words written by the Welsh poet Idris Davies. Seeger first released a recording of the song on a live album in 1958, but it is the American folk rock band the Byrds' 1965 recording that is the best known version of the song.

The Byrds & The Scruggs Family - You Ain,t Going Nowhere (Dylan)

Earl Eugene Scruggs (January 6, 1924 – March 28, 2012) was an American musician noted for popularizing a three-finger banjo picking style, now called "Scruggs style", which is a defining characteristic of bluegrass music.

The Byrds with Earl Scruggs & Sons - When Rock & Roll met Bluegrass...

The Byrds, Earl Scruggs and his sons Randy and Gary

On January 10th, 1971, 48 years ago today, the Earl Scruggs Revue appeared on a PBS special, Earl Scruggs: His Family and Friends, which featured 21-year-old Gary and 17-year-old Randy, along with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Doc Watson and Bill Monroe, among others. Also appearing on the program were country-rock pioneers the Byrds, featuring Roger McGuinn, Clarence White, Skip Battin and Gene Parsons.

You Aint Going Nowhere (1969)

In the above clip from the special, the Byrds join Scruggs and sons on Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere,” which the Byrds actually recorded in 1968, three years before Dylan, who eventually included it on a greatest-hits package in late ’71.

The Byrds (org. line-up) - Live!! (1965)

als   The Beatles en The Rolling Stones.

                                          Turn,Turn Turn (Pete Seeger)

De opnames komen uit de concertfilm The Big TNT Show gepresenteerd door David McCallum.
Andere optredende artiesten waren o.a The Lovin Spoonful,Ray Charles,BoDiddley,Donovan ,Petula Clarke,Roger Miller,Ike&TinaTurner,Joan Baez.

The Bells of Rhymny (Pete Seeger)

                                          Mr.Tambourine Man(Bob Dylan)

The Times they are Changing(Bob Dylan)

Do You Believe in Magic(John Sebastian,Lovin Spoonful)

The Byrds - Monterey PopFestival 17 Juni 1967

Chimes Of Freedom

He Was A Friend Of Mine van het album Turn Turn Turn
"He Was a Friend of Mine" is een traditione folk song waarin de zanger over de dood van een vriend zingt. Door zeer veel artiesten gecoverd o.a Bob Dylan,Dave Van Ronk,Grateful Dead,Bobby Bare,The Black Crows en natuurlijk The Byrds.

Er zijn veel uitvoeringen van de song o.a The Leaves,The Standells,The Surfaris,Love ,The Byrds en ontelbaar veel anderen.

1 Renaissance Fair
2 Have You Seen Her Face
3 Hey Joe
4 He Was A Friend Of Mine
5 Lady Friend
6 Chimes Of Freedom
7 So You Want To Be A Rock&Roll Star(with Hugh Masakela)

The Byrds live at Hugh Hefner,s Play Boy After Dark TV Show

On September 28, the McGuinn-White-York-Parsons version of The Byrds debuted on, of all things, Hugh Hefner's Playboy After Dark TV show, performing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" and "This Wheel's On Fire," another Bob Dylan song demoed with The Band in Woodstock and no doubt heard that year on The Band's debut, Music From Big Pink. Not only was this one of the first shows for the post-Hillman Byrds lineup*, it's the first documented performance, to my knowledge, of Clarence playing his StringBender, which you can hear him work to great effect at the beginning of "Nowhere." I'm reasonably certain this was also the only gig in the band's career in which scantily clad go-go dancing and brandy snifters figured prominently. So you wanna be a rock 'n' roll star, indeed!

The Byrds in 1968 -"You Aint Going Nowhere " en "This Wheels on Fire."
Roger McGuinn, Gene Parsons, John York en Clarence White, Live at The Playboy Club.

Clarence White
Clarence White (born Clarence LeBlanc) (June 7, 1944 – July 15, 1973) was a guitar player for Nashville West, The Byrds, Muleskinner, and the Kentucky Colonels. His parents were Acadians from New Brunswick, Canada. The father, Eric LeBlanc, Sr., played fiddle, guitar, banjo and harmonica, and his children, Roland, Eric Jr., Joanne and Clarence took up music at a young age.

Gene Parsons
Gene Victor Parsons is an American drummer, banjo player, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and innovative engineer, best known for his work with The Byrds from 1968 to 1972. Parsons has also released solo albums and played in bands including Nashville West, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Parsons Green. Parsons is credited with inventing the B-Bender (also known as the StringBender) along with Clarence White and the device is often referred to as the Parsons/White B-Bender, a trademarked name.

John York
John Foley York is an American bassist and guitarist, born in White Plains, New York on August 3, 1946. He is best known for his work with The Byrds, who he joined in September 1968 as a replacement for the band's original bass player Chris Hillman. He remained with the group until September 1969, when he was fired by the other three members of the band and replaced by Skip Battin.[3] Despite only being with The Byrds for a year, his bass playing and singing appear on two of the group's studio albums, Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde and Ballad of Easy Rider, as well as on the non-album single "Lay Lady Lay". York also wrote the song "Fido", which appears on Ballad of Easy Rider, and co-wrote the song "Candy", which is included on Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde. He also appears on the Columbia/Legacy Byrds' live album Live at the Fillmore - February 1969.

Roger Mcguinn
James Roger McGuinn (known professionally as Roger McGuinn, previously as Jim McGuinn, and born James Joseph McGuinn III on July 13, 19http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif42)[1] is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known for being the lead singer and lead guitarist on many of The Byrds' records. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with The Byrds.
