David Charles (David) Olney (Providence, Rhode Island, 23 maart 1948 - Seaside (Florida), 18 januari 2020),David was an American singer-songwriter. He had an enthusiastic fan base in the Netherlands. He recorded four of his concert albums in the Netherlands. David Olney has written many beautiful songs, and this is one of them, perhaps one of his finest. It's a song about the madness of the First World War and its aftermath, seen through the eyes of a French prostitute. I've had the pleasure of seeing David perform the song himself several times, and for me, it's always one of the highlights of his performances.(Recording engineer Pieter Groeneveld)But this beautiful live performance by Linda and Emmylou also really appeals to me.
