Tom Rush

Tom Rush (Geb.8 February 1941, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire) is een erkend folk en blues singer/ songwriter.

Child Song(1970)
Beautiful song and beautiful images from the 70s

Rush's impact on the American music scene is undeniable. He was one of the important figures in the folk world in the 1960s. He was also very involved in the folk revivals of the 1980s and 1990s. His music influenced many artists. James Taylor told Rolling Stone, "Tom was not only one of my early heroes, but also one of my main influences." Country music star Garth Brooks said Rush has been very important to his musical career. His first albums contained a lot of work by Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and James Taylor.

Driving Wheel
'One of my first LPs is Electra's triple compilation album, "'Fill Your Head with Rock""This was my first introduction to Tom

Tom Rush started his musical career in the early 1960s near Boston, where he also studied. Club 47 was the flagship of the Folk scene and Tom could be found there regularly. He performed there regularly and learned many of the legendary artists who played there. came to play. By the time he graduated he had already recorded two albums.

Tom Rush & Emmylou Harris

Rush has a talent for composing beautiful songs. Many of these songs have become true classics and are highly appreciated by a new generation of artists. Typical of his versatility is that his songs have become folk hits, country hits, heavy metal and rap hits

"No Regrets" became a hit in The Walker Brothers' version

.In the early 1970s, folk became more folk-rock and Rush decided to perform with a five-piece band. Endless promotion and television appearances, interviews, and recordings over a period of five very successful years took its toll and Tom Rush decided to retire for a time to his farm in New Hampshire. Rush returned in 1981 to a sold-out Symphony Hall in Boston. Time had not affected Tom's music and the crowd embraced him again.

"Urge for Going "one of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs, this is a very beautiful performance.
Tom Rush felt that his audience was interested in his old and new music, and created a musical stage (just like Club47 in the '60s) to perform together with established and new artists. In 1982 he tried his hand at The Symphony Hall in Boston. The show became a great success and the Club 47 series was born. Artists such as Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris performed there and then unknown names such as Alison Krauss and Mark O'Connor also participated. In 1999, Columbia/Legacy released a Tom Rush compilation album with an overview of his music from 1962 to the present. Titled "The Very Best of Tom Rush: No Regrets," it includes a new Tom Rush composition "River Song," featuring guests Grammy winners Shawn Colvin and Marc Cohn.

"Remember Song",a song for men of my age, very recognizable.....

A live CD, "Trolling for Owls" released in 2003 by Tom's NIGHTLIGHT RECORDINGS contains highlights from his many performances, including some of the stories he tells during those performances. "How I Play (some of) My Favorite Songs", a DVD released in 2005 by Homespun Tapes Today, Tom Rush lives in Wyoming when he's not touring. He does what he loves most, writing songs and performing....

The Allman Brothers at The Orpheum Theatre 12-3-2011 (repost)

The Orpheum Theater is a musical theater located at 1 Hamilton Place in Boston, Massachusetts. One of the oldest theaters in the United States, built in 1852 and initially known as the Boston Music Hall, home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The name was changed to the Orpheum Theater in 1906 and has been used for live music concerts ever since.

Guitarist and singer Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band was recently told that two veterans are calling it quits this year. Both guitarist Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes have confirmed that they will be leaving the legendary band this year to focus on their own bands. They stay with the band until the 45th anniversary and then pack up.

 Walked On Guilded Splinters

Gov't Mule leader Haynes was part of The Allman Brothers Band for no less than 25 years and Derek Trucks, who, together with his wife Susan Tedeschi, forms the heart of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, has been playing for 15 years. In a joint statement the gentlemen say: 'We will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience, and for the love, enthusiasm, and support of the incredible fans. We are both preparing to dig even deeper into our various creative and musical endeavors; and, as a result, 2014 will be our final year as part of the band.' Too bad, I would have liked to see the band in action "live" again with this line-up, but that won't be possible anymore. So we'll just make do with the amount of film material that is in circulation of the band.

"Into the Mystic" one of my favorite Van Morrison songs. Covered by various artists, one more beautiful than the other. Warren Haynes also thinks it is a beautiful song, I think. I have already seen several performances by him, both solo and with Gov,t Mule, as with The Dead and with The Allman Brothers. This one is also very nice.

"All Along the Watchtower" written by Bob Dylan, released on his eighth studio album John Wesley Harding in 1967. It is Hendrix's version that made the song famous. Electric Ladyland was his best-selling album, and the Watchtower was the only single to reach 20th on the US charts during his lifetime.

"Working Class Hero" is a song by John Lennon. He used the song for his 1970 album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.

Revival

The first Allman Brothers song to hit the charts, it reached #92 in America. It was also the band's first song not written by Gregg Allman. Guitarist Dickey Betts wrote it.
