Lyle Pearce Lovett (geb 1 November 1957) is een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter en akteur. Hij is sinds 1980 aktief,nam 13 albums op,en bracht 21 singles uit,inclusief zijn hit in de U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, "Cowboy Man". Lovett won 4 Grammy Awards,werd gekozen tot de beste mannelijke Country zanger en een van zijn albums It's Not Big It's Large uit 2007 kwam op nummer twee in de Top Country Albums chart.

Lovett's muziek carriere begon als songwriter,maar hij tekende al snel bij MCA Records en in 1986 kwam hij al met zijn debuut album.Hoewel hij dikwijls geassioceerd word met het countrygenre is zijn repetoire veel breder ,zijn muziek is een mix van folk, swing, blues, jazz , en traditionele country & Western.Winnaar van 4 Grammy Awards, incl. Best Country Album (1996 The Road to Ensenada), Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal (1994 "Blues For Dixie" met Asleep at the Wheel), Best Pop Vocal Collaboration (1994 "Funny How Time Slips Away" met Al Green) en Best Country Male Vocal (1989) veeo Lyle Lovett and His Large Band).

Lovett speelde in verschillende films, incl.Robert Altman's films: The Player (1992), Short Cuts (1993), Prêt-à-Porter (1994), Cookie's Fortune (1999), en maakte de muziek voor Dr. T & the Women (2000). Recentlijk speelde hij nog The New Guy (2002) en Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007). Als TV akteur was hij te zien in Mad About You, Brothers & Sisters and Dharma & Greg.

Lovett kreeg in 2006 een award van het blad Esquire,de z.g Esky Music Award. Het blad zei van Lovett: "Het geheim van het uithoudingsvermogen Lyle Lovett's is: class, charisma and consistency...

Joe Ely (2-9-1947 1947) Amarillo, Texas) is een Amerikaanse singer/songwriter en gitarist,met raakvlakken aan honky-tonk, country en rock and roll.
Hij heeft een zeer veelzijdige carriere en trad op met Bruce Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, Los Super Seven, The Clancy Brothers , James McMurtry The Clash , Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, en Guy Clark.

Deze post is voor Gerrit,mijn blogvriend uit het hoge noorden.Behalve liefhebber van de muziek van Willy Deville ,Van,Neil e.a heeft Gerrit ook groene vingers.
Deze songs zijn zeker op Gerrit van toepassing The Garden(al bedoelt Van volgens mij een ander soort tuin) en You Send Me ,voor al de mooie muziek die Gerrit mij regelmatig toestuurt.

Jan Akkerman voor Ramses Shaffy t,Beest (Goes)3-12-2009

Hoe dikwijls heb ik Jan al zien spelen,ik weet het echt niet meer.De eerste keer weet ik nog wel ,dat was in het concertgebouw in Vlissingen met The Hunters(Russian Spy and I)daarna Brainbox ,Focus met zijn eigen bandje ,solo ,als gast bij The Juke Joints,ik vind het altijd prachtig.Die Donderdag 3 dec. was mischien wel zijn mooiste.Het t,Beest ,meestal het toneel voor rockconcerten was ditmaal omgetoverd tot een prachtige akoestisch podium ,waar de muziek van Jan Akkerman prachtig tot zijn recht kwam.En met Arthur en jongste zoon Jesper op de eerste rij!

Tijdens het concert speelde Jan Akkerman dit nummer voor de zojuist overleden Ramses Shaffy,daarbij vertelde hij dat hij via Ramses Thijs van leer heeft leren kennen ,de rest is geschiedenis(Focus)

David Rawlings And Gillian Welch: Tiny Desk Concert

David Rawlings is een zeer talentvol producer, sessie gitarist ,maar vooral bekend door zijn lange samenwerking met folk en traditioneel country artieste Gillian Welch. Dit concert bij NPR was vooral bedoelt voor promotie van Rawlings' eigen album (het eerste onder de naam the Dave Rawlings Machine). For A Friend of a Friend,

In deze Tiny Desk Concert opname waren Rawlings en Welch net hersteld van een zware bronchitis,maar daar was niets van te merken.Als soudcheck werd Bill Monroe's "I'm on My Way Back to the Old Home." gebruikt en wat volgde was een adembenemend miniconcertje Hoogtepunt wat mij betreft Ruby ,en als good old Neil(Cortez the Killer)met dat prachtige gitaarwerk van Dave ook nog voorbij komt ,kan het voor mij niet meer kapot.
