Boz Scaggs - Lowdown (Live on SNL - 1976)

"Lowdown" is a song originally recorded in 1976 by Boz Scaggs for his album, Silk Degrees. The song was co-written by Scaggs and David Paich. Keyboardist David Paich, along with fellow "Lowdown" session musicians bassist David Hungate, and drummer Jeff Porcaro, would later help form the band Toto.

nitially, Silk Degrees received a lukewarm commercial response and, similarly, the first single released from the album, "It's Over" just barely cracked the top 40 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart, peaking at #38. One day, however, a Cleveland R&B radio DJ began playing "Lowdown" straight off the album. This was during a time period when DJs had much more say in what got played.[3] Public response was very positive and soon Scaggs' record label, Columbia, sent the song to other R&B-oriented radio stations for airplay. It began receiving airplay on Top 40 Pop stations as well, and when it was officially released as a single in June 1976, it went on to become Scaggs' first major hit, eventually peaking at number three on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. It was also successful on the R&B and Disco Singles charts, peaking at number five on both. The song was also a major hit in Canada, peaking at number two. It was a minor hit in the UK, reaching #28. Scaggs is quoted as saying that the success of "Lowdown" was 'an accident' and that, even though it was their favorite from Silk Degrees, he and the others involved in the making of the song thought there 'wasn't a chance in hell' that the song would have been released as a single.[3] The single was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of one million copies and would go on to win the Grammy Award for Best R&B song of 1976.(Wikipedia)

Neil Young - Crime In The City (Sixty To Zero, Part 1)"

Na een hoop gedoe met platenmaatschapij Geffen Records ,keerde Neil Young in 1988 terug naar het label Reprise. Prima keuze en een uitstekende come-back met het album Freedom.Prijsnummer natuurlijk "Rocking in a Free World" maar mijn favoriete nummer is toch "Crime in The City"

Allmusic recensent Matthew Greenwald schreef:"strong praise for the second track, "Crime in the City", calling it "undoubtedly the centerpiece of the album", "cinematic in scope", and "one of Neil
 Young's most accomplished works"

Bob Dylan - Love Minus Zero/If Not For You (Concert for Bangladesh)

The Concert for Bangladesh was the name given to two benefit concerts organised by former Beatles lead guitarist George Harrison and Indian sitar master Ravi Shankar. The concerts were held at 2:30 and 8:00 pm on Sunday, 1 August 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The event was the first time that a benefit concert made such a profound impact. The show was a remarkable display of fraternity among musicians and this is where Bob Dylan made a jaw-dropping entrance and performance after taking a break for a while. According to the audience and Harrison's envisage, Bob Dylan's performance was the crowning glory of the Concert for Bangladesh. Dylan played five of his decade-defining and most popular songs from the 1960s, with the help of George Harrison on the backup vocals, Russell on Bass and Ringo Starr on tambourine.

The songs that he performed were "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall", "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry", "Blowin' in the Wind", "Mr. Tambourine Man", and  "Just Like a Woman". These decade-defining songs each have a profound meaning attached that can only be made complete sense out of by purists. Here are some of the photos from the historic event.
