John Mayall - "I'm Gonna Fight for You J.B."

 When John Mayall was starting another band after the break-up of the Bluesbreakers in May 1969, he decided to have a band that would play "low volume music" – or music without "heavy lead guitar and drums". 

  "I'm Gonna Fight For You, J.B.", is a tribute to the American blues guitarist J. B. Lenoir who died in 1967 and who had a deep influence on Mayall

John Brumwell Mayall  (29 November 1933 – 22 July 2024) was an English blues and rock musician, songwriter and producer. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band that has counted among its members some of the most famous blues and blues rock musicians of all-time. A singer, guitarist, harmonica player, and keyboardist, he had a career that spanned nearly seven decades, remaining an active musician until his death aged 90. Mayall has often been referred to as the "godfather of the British blues", and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the musical influence category in 2024. 

John Michael Burchell (8 May 1943 – 10 February 2021), known professionally as Jon Mark, was an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his recordings with Marianne Faithfull, Sweet Thursday, John Mayall and Mark-Almond. Mark, who received a Grammy in 2004, lived in Rotorua, New Zealand.

                                      

Johnny Almond (20 July 1946 – 18 November 2009) was a British saxophonist, who is best known for his recordings with the Alan Price Set, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall and Mark-Almond. 

Alex Dmochowski (Death reported on December 21, 2024 )Bassist Alex Dmochowski became a familiar face on the British blues scene playing with John Mayall, Aynsley Dunbar’s Retaliation, Peter Green and Quincy Jones, among others. During the 70s he recorded several albums with Frank Zappa, including the iconic Apostrophe (‘), under the handle ‘Erroneous’. He was 79 when he passed away peacefully at his home in London.

Tom Rush -Urge For Going (Joni Mitchell)

 Tom Rush (born February 8, 1941)is an American folk and blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter whose success helped launch the careers of other singer-songwriters in the 1960s and who has continued his own singing career for 60 years

Back in November 2020, ten months into covid, 79-year old Tom Rush performed an online-only concert from home since actual in-person live anything (much less concert touring) had been suspended. This acoustic performance of Joni Mitchell's "The Urge for Going" is the same haunting arrangement he did originally 55 years earlier back in 1966 when he was age 25, played from a demo tape very early one morning on the Dick Summer overnight show on WBZ in Boston. The rest is history, for Tom Rush and for Joni Mitchell. Enjoy.

Ambulance Blues is a song written by Neil Young. It has a length of nine minutes and is the closing track of his album On the Beach (1974). While the music magazine Rolling Stone counted the song in 2015 among The 10 Best Neil Young Deep Cuts, or the top of his songs that are almost exclusively appreciated by fans, AllMusic counts the song among the favorites among musicians who want to pay tribute to Young.

Freddie King (born Fred Christian; September 3, 1934 – December 28, 1976), also billed as Freddy King, was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is considered one of the "Three Kings of the Blues Guitar" (along with Albert King and B. B. King, none of whom was a blood relative).^[Known for his soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar playing, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists.

The Mamas & the Papas were an American folk rock vocal group that recorded and performed from 1965 to 1968, with a brief reunion in 1971. The group was a defining force in the music scene of the counterculture of the 1960s. Formed in New York City, the group consisted of Americans John Phillips, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips, and Canadian Denny Doherty. Their sound was based on vocal harmonies arranged by John Phillips – the songwriter and leader of the group – who adapted folk to the new beat style of the early 1960s.
