Grateful Dead / Furthur guitarist Bob Weir welcomed Warren Haynes to
TRI Studios' talk show Weir Here for the first time last night on the eve of
Jerry Garcia's birthday. Haynes had a night
off from his duties with the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration and brought along the
drummer (Jeff Sipe) and vocalists (Alecia Chakour and Jasmine Muhammad) from his Symphonic
Celebration backing band for performances of Grateful Dead live repertoire classics.

Dear Prudence is me. Written in India. A song about Mia Farrow's sister, who seemed to go slightly barmy, meditating too long, and couldn't come out of the little hut that we were livin' in. They selected me and George to try and bring her out because she would trust us. If she'd been in the West, they would have put her away.
We got her out of the house. She'd been locked in for three weeks and wouldn't come out, trying to reach God quicker than anybody else. That was the competition in Maharishi's camp: who was going to get cosmic first. What I didn't know was I was already cosmic. [Laughs.]

Een wat vreemde locatie voor een optreden van Warren Haynes met de band Chessboxer.
Drie lange roltrappen , daarna nog een stukje traplopen te voet, en dan kom je in de zaal met de toepasselijke naam Cloud Nine.Mooie intieme zaal ,en achteraf uitstekend geschikt voor een optreden van Warren en zijn band.
Vorig jaar november zag ik Warren met deze band al in de NSJ club in Amsterdam,een indrukwekkend optreden(zie mijn impressie onderaan)Deze avond deed er niet voor onder.prachtig optreden.

Warren Haynes has split so much of his career between the Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule that he hasn’t devoted much time to his solo work. That’s about to change on July 24 with the release of Ashes and Dust, only the third record issued under his own name. On Neil McCormick's Needle Time Warren perfomed 3 songs of that album
Warren Haynes (born April 6, 1960) is an American musician,
singer and songwriter. A Grammy Award-winning artist, Haynes has been
recognized as a cornerstone of the American music landscape and revered
as one of the finest guitar players in the world. Throughout his
prolific career as part of three of the greatest live groups in rock
history – The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule[ and The Dead– his virtuosic artistry has led to thousands of unforgettable performances and millions of album and track sales.
Ashes & Dust was met with generally positive reviews from music critics. Thom Jurek of AllMusic said, "While Ashes & Dust
doesn't really add anything "new" to Haynes' musical profile—fans
already knew this was here—there are some fine benchmarks: his singing
has never used such a range of dynamics before; for once he lets the
song dictate his expression.

Nog maar net bekomen van het geweldige concert van de TedeschiTrucks Band in Tivoli/Vredeburg (dinsdag 17 nov). stond ik twee dagen later oog in oog met die andere fenomenale zanger/gitarist uit The AllmanBrothers band Warren Haynes.In tegenstelling tot dinsdag geen groot concertpodium,maar een intieme jazz club (NSJ Club)

.Het voorprogramma werd verzorgd door Chessboxer ,pure bluegrass.Naar later zou blijken maakten zij ook deel uit van de Warren Haynes band.

Ik had meer of min een soort semi/akoustisch optreden verwacht i.v.m met het album Ashes & Dust maar niets was minder waar.Ondanks de wat vreemde setting(twee banjo,s /viool)We werden getrakteerd op een meer dan twee uur durende show,een doorsnede van Warren Haynes muzikale carriere.

It,s Me Or You
Railroad Earth is a roots and Americana-based newgrass band from Stillwater, New Jersey. Their name was borrowed from the Jack Kerouacshort story
"October in the Railroad Earth." The band also has a song by the same
name written by Todd Sheaffer. Railroad Earth's music combines elements
of bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, celtic and more, and the group is also known for its extensive live improvisation and lyrical songwriting within an acoustic base.

Susan Tedeschi& Derek Trucks traden in 2001 in het huwelijk en formeerden The Tedeschi Trucks Band in . Tedeschi toerde o.a met B.B. King, Bob Dylan, en the Rolling Stones. Trucks is een gewledige gitarist,zag hem zowel met zijn eigen band(Peer)als met Clapton(Ahoy) .
