The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was a Chicago blues band founded by Paul Butterfield in 1963. The latter began performing in the Chicago area when he was a teenager. Soon he formed a band with Jerome Arnold and Sam Lay (both from Howlin' Wolf's band), and Elvin Bishop. The band signed to Elektra Records after signing Michael Bloomfield as solo guitarist.
