William Everett "Billy" Preston (September 2, 1946 – June 6, 2006) was an American musician whose work included R&B, rock, soul, funk and gospel. Preston became famous first as a session musician with artists including Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and the Beatles, and was later successful as a solo artist with hit pop singles including "Outa-Space", its sequel, "Space Race", "Will It Go Round in Circles" and "Nothing from Nothing", and a string of albums and guest appearances with Eric Clapton, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others. In addition, Preston was co-author, with The Beach Boys' Dennis Wilson, of "You Are So Beautiful," recorded by Preston and later a #5 hit for Joe Cocker.
Alongside Tony Sheridan, Billy Preston was the only other musician to be credited on a Beatles recording: the artists on the number-one hit "Get Back" are given as "The Beatles with Billy Preston". Stephen Stills asked Preston if he could use Preston's phrase "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with" and created the hit song.

"Stone Free" is a song by Jimi Hendrix, the first song he wrote. The Jimi Hendrix Experience first released it in December 1966 as the B-side of Hendrix's first single "Hey Joe". In December 1969 "Stone Free" was released as a single in the US, backed with "If 6 Was 9".
The Mamas and the Papas were an American folk rockvocal group
that recorded and performed from 1965 to 1968, reuniting briefly in
1971. They released five studio albums and seventeen singles, six of
which made the top ten, and sold close to 40 million records worldwide. The group comprised John Phillips (1935–2001), Canadian Denny Doherty (1940–2007), Cass Elliot (1941–1974), and Michelle Phillips (b. 1944). Their sound was based on four-part vocal harmonies arranged by songwriter and leader, John Phillips, an innovator who adapted folk to the new "beat" style of the early sixties.
Monday Monday
"Monday, Monday" is a 1966 song written by John Phillips and recorded by The Mamas & the Papas for their 1966 album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears. It was the group's only number one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.[1]
Phillips said that he wrote the song quickly, in about 20 minutes. This song includes a false ending,
when there is a pause before the coda of the song, and goes up a half
note for the bridges and refrains of the song. It was the second
consecutive number one hit song in the U.S. to contain a false ending,
succeeding Good Lovin' by the Young Rascals.

Aretha Franklin - Dont Play that Song(You Lied) from Aart van Hoften on Vimeo.
"Don't Play That Song (You Lied)" is a song written by Ahmet Ertegün and Betty Nelson and first recorded by soul singer Ben E. King. The title track on King's third album Don't Play That Song, it reached #2 on the U.S. R&B singles chart and #11 on the pop chart when released as a single on Atco Records in 1962 (see 1962 in music).
Aretha Franklin covered the song for her twenty-first album, Spirit in the Dark, released on Atlantic Records. Her version, performed with the Dixie Flyers, was released as a single in 1970 (see 1970 in music) and peaked at #1 for five weeks on the R&B singles chart and #11 on the pop chart.[1] Franklin's version was certified gold with sales over a million copies. In the United Kingdom it reached #13. This was the first of two covers Franklin did of songs made popular by King. The other was her cover of "Spanish Harlem" in the 1971.
Ook The Drifting Cowboys verlieten Williams.
