What sad news to hear of the passing of my dear friend and former
bandmate David Lindley. How blessed I was to have him in my band in the
early 70’s. During that time we played the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival
and there’s a live album of our show. We went on to play the first
Glastonbury Festival too . David was a really gifted musician
on any instrument with strings and was so in-demand that he played
with everybody. He made a huge contribution to both my River and Seed of

Terrance James Reid (born 13 November 1949), nicknamed
"Superlungs", is an English rock vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist
best known for his emotive style of singing in appearances with
high-profile musicians as vocalist, supporting act and session musician.
As a solo recording and touring artist, he has released six studio
albums and four live albums. His songs have been recorded by numerous
artists including The Hollies, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Arrival, Marianne Faithfull, Cheap Trick, Jack White with The Raconteurs, Joe Perry, Rumer and Chris Cornell.
Small Faces were a British rock group from the 1960s.The members were Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones and Jimmy Winston.Their debut single, "What'cha Gonna Do About It", written by Ian Samwell, was released in 1965 and was a minor hit in their home country.Their next single, "I've Got Mine", failed to chart, and Winston left the band.Ian McLagan took his place, and they had a big hit in England with the song "Sha-La-La-La-Lee".
All or Nothing
The peak of their popularity was in August 1966 when "All Or Nothing" reached the top of the UK charts, subsequently becoming their only No. 1 hit.Their first album was "Small Faces", and proved to be very successful.After moving to the Immediate Records label of Rolling Stones' producer Andrew 'Loog' Oldham, the song they are still known for was released: "Itchycoo Park".
Itschycoo Park In 1968 their fourth album, Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake, was released, one side of which was based on a fairy tale.The album received very good reviews and reached first place in England.The album also included the previously successful hit single "Lazy Sunday".The sentence "Lazy Sunday afternoon... I've got no mind to worry, close my eyes and drift away...." gives an image of the flower power period
Lazy Sunday When Marriot suddenly left the band in 1969 and formed Humble Pie, the rest of the members attempted to continue Small Faces, recruiting Rod Stewart and Ron Wood.Shortly afterwards they changed their name to The Faces.

The Caledonia Soul Orchestra was the band created by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison in 1973. The band was named after an eighteen-minute instrumental outtake on the His Band and the Street Choir album.
Cyprus Avenue
In 1973 Van Morrison and the Caledonia Soul Orchestra went on a
three-month tour of the United States and Europe, the result of which
was the live double album It's Too Late to Stop Now. The title is taken from the last line in the lyrics of one of Morrison's songs, "Into the Mystic" from the 1970 Moondance album. In live performances with the Caledonia Soul Orchestra, he would close the concert with a lengthened version of the Astral Weeks song "Cyprus Avenue" and then shout out "It's too late to stop now!" as he exited the stage.
I was lucky that I saw Van Morrison with his Caledonia Soul Orchestra perform in De Doelen in Rotterdam that same year, a beautiful stage. It was my first VM concert, many more would follow, about 30 times. The last was atNorth Sea Jazz 2023 also in Rotterdam.

Had
the pleasure to see David Olney perform several times during his visits
to the Netherlands, including in Theater De Wegwijzer. Beautiful songs
and, a very sympathetic personality. Unfortunately, he passed away
unexpectedly during a performance in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on January 18, 2020, at the age of seventy-one.He
was in the middle of his third song when he stopped, apologized and
shut his eyes, according to fellow musician Scott Miller, who was
accompanying Olney

The inspiration behind She Took off My Romeos came from David Lindley’s
personal experiences with heartbreak and the end of a once beautiful
relationship. The song serves as a cathartic expression of his emotions
and a way to connect with others who have gone through similar
experiences.

David Perry Lindley (March 21, 1944 - March 3, 2023)
Lindley died after a long illness on March 3, 2023, at the age of 78. He had COVID-19 in 2020, which his family said developed into Long COVID, with chronic kidney damage.

Walter "Brownie" McGhee (November 30, 1915, Knoxville, Tennessee - February 16, 1996, Oakland, California) was an American folk and blues singer and guitarist.He became known for his collaboration with harmonica player Sonny Terry.
McGhee was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and was struck by polio as a child.As a result, he had problems walking.Even as a child he devoted a lot of time to music, singing in the Golden Voices Gospel Quartet.He also taught himself to play the guitar.When he was 22, he started traveling as a musician and met Blind Boy Fuller, whose guitar playing had a great influence on him (so much so that McGhee took over Fuller's name after Fuller's death in 1941, and as Blind Boy Fuller II by thelife went).During that time, McGhee made several recordings, but greater success did not come until he went to New York in 1942, where he worked with Sonny Terry.Together they experienced great successes that would continue until the early 1970s.When interest in folk music revived in the 1960s, Terry and McGhee were featured guests at concerts and festivals.
