The Healing Game is the twenty-sixth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released in 1997 .
The title song "The Healing Game" is about the tradition of Belfast street singing. Van Morrison in Q magazine said, "People find it incredible when I tell them that people used to sing and play music in the street. I think there's a whole oral tradition that's disappeared."

Chester Arthur Burnett (June 10, 1910 – January 10, 1976), known as Howlin' Wolf, was an African-American Chicago blues singer, guitarist and harmonica player, from Mississippi. With a booming voice and looming physical presence, he is one of the best-known Chicago blues artists. Musician and critic Cub Koda noted, "no one could match Howlin' Wolf for the singular ability to rock the house down to the foundation while simultaneously scaring its patrons out of its wits."^[1] Producer Sam Phillips recalled, "When I heard Howlin' Wolf, I said, 'This is for me. This is where the soul of man never dies'".^[2] Several of his songs, such as "Smokestack Lightnin'", "Back Door Man", "Killing Floor" and "Spoonful" have become blues and blues rock standards.  Famed rootsy-Americana producer T Bone Burnett, is one of many aficionados of the Sun sound who cite this as the first rock 'n' roll song. Speaking with Uncut magazine in an April 2012 interview, he argued: "The first major breakthrough Sam made was with Howlin' Wolf. That's when he started bringing the bass and drums up loud. Back in those days, the bass and drums were background instruments; it was about the horns and the piano, the melody instruments, and Sam brought the rhythm section right up front, and that became rock 'n' roll. That was a big shift. In some ways 'How Many More Years' by Wolf would be the first rock 'n' roll song because that has the guitar lick that became the central guitar lick in rock 'n' roll, and that's the first time we heard that played on a distorted guitar. Paul Lorin Kantner (March 17, 1941 – January 28, 2016) R.I.P.

Paul Lorin Kantner (March 17, 1941 – January 28, 2016) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, known for co-founding Jefferson Airplane, a psychedelic rock band of the counterculture era, and its more commercial spin-off band Jefferson Starship. He was born in San Francisco, California.
Although the band was originally formed in 1965 by Marty Balin, Kantner eventually became the leader of Jefferson Airplane and led the group through its highly successful late 1960s period. In 1970, while still active with Jefferson Airplane, Kantner and several Bay Area musicians recorded a one-off side project under the name "Paul Kantner and the Jefferson Starship." Jefferson Airplane continued to record and perform until 1972. When the band officially broke up, Kantner revived the Jefferson Starship name and continued to record and perform with that band for the next five decades. Kantner had the longest continuous membership with the band; at times he was the only founding member still in the band from the original Jefferson Airplane lineup.

"Thank You" signalled a deeper involvement in songwriting by singer Robert Plant: it was the first Led Zeppelin song for which he wrote all the lyrics. According to various Led Zeppelin biographies, this is also the song that made Jimmy Page realise that Plant could now handle writing the majority of the lyrics for the band's songs. Plant wrote the song as a tribute to his then-wife Maureen.

Mijn eerste kennismaking met Steve Earl was ergens in de jaren 80 op het toen nog mooie Park Pop in Den Haag.En dat viel niet mee,waarschijnlijk na het optreden in Paradiso nog wat doorgezakt in Amsterdam met als gevolg een matig optreden.Hij zou dat later ruimschoots goedmaken,ik zag mooie concerten ,zowel solo.als met The DelMccoury Band en met zijn eigen band.

 Steve Earle (Stephen Fain Earle geb.January 17, 1955) is een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter, record producer, autheur en acteur. Groeide op in San Antonio, Texas,en speelt vanaf zijn elfde gitaar.
Earle begon zijn carriere als songwriter in Nashville en zijn eerste EP kwam uit in 1982. Zijn echte doorbraak kwam met het uitkomen van het album Guitar Town. in 1986 Sindsdien bracht hij 13 studioalbums uit waarvan El Corazon zeker tot een van mijn favoriete behoort .

The original recording was not a hit outside of Europe. Instead, "Shakin' All Over" gained fame in North America after the Canadian band The Guess Who covered it in early 1965, where it became a #1 hit in Canada, and a #22 hit in the US. The Guess Who had previously been known as "Chad Allan and the Expressions" prior to the release of "Shakin' All Over", but the group's Canadian label (Quality Records) issued the record as by "Guess Who?", in an attempt to imply that the record might be by a British Invasion act -- perhaps even The Beatles. The group subsequently permanently changed their name to The Guess Who, and went on to a long Top 40 career.

The "Alabama Song" (also known as "Whisky Bar," "Moon over Alabama," or "Moon of Alabama") was originally published as a poem in Bertolt Brecht's Hauspostille (1927). It was set to music by Kurt Weill for the 1927 "Songspiel" Mahagonny and used again in Weill's and Brecht's 1930 opera Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.) In the latter, it is performed by the character Jenny and her fellow prostitutes in the first act. The song was first performed and recorded by the Viennese actress and dancer Lotte Lenya (Weill's wife).^[1] She first publicly sang the song as the character Jessie in the 1927 Baden-Baden Festival performance of Mahagonny Songspiel. Lenya first recorded the song in 1930 for the Ultraphon record label. This recording was released to coincide with the Leipzig premiere of Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny despite the fact that Lenya was not a member of the cast.^[2] Lenya continued to perform and record the song throughout her life. Later Lenya recordings include one made for the 1955 album, "Lotte Lenya singt Kurt Weill" (released in the United States as "Berlin Theater Songs").^[3]
The lyrics for the "Alabama Song" are in English (albeit specifically idiosyncratic English) and are performed in that language even when the opera is performed in its original German. The English text was made by Brecht’s close collaborator, Elisabeth Hauptmann, on the author’s behalf. The text dates back to 1925
