Whipping Post
Guitarist
and singer Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band was recently told
that two veterans are calling it quits this year. Both
guitarist Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes have confirmed that they will
be leaving the legendary band this year to focus on their own bands. They stay with the band until the 45th anniversary and then pack up.
Walked On Guilded Splinters
Gov't Mule leader Haynes was part of The Allman Brothers Band for no less than 25 years and Derek Trucks, who, together with his wife Susan Tedeschi, forms the heart of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, has been playing for 15 years. In a joint statement the gentlemen say: 'We will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience, and for the love, enthusiasm, and support of the incredible fans.We are both preparing to dig even deeper into our various creative and musical endeavors;and, as a result, 2014 will be our final year as part of the band.'Too bad, I would have liked to see the band in action "live" again with this line-up, but that won't be possible anymore. So we'll just make do with the amount of film material that is in circulation of the band.
"Into
the Mystic" one of my favorite Van Morrison songs. Covered by various
artists, one more beautiful than the other. Warren Haynes also thinks it
is a beautiful song, I think. I have already seen several performances
by him, both solo and withGov,t Mule, as with The Dead and with The Allman Brothers. This one is also very nice.
"All Along the Watchtower" written by Bob Dylan, released on his eighth studio album John Wesley Harding in 1967.It is Hendrix's version that made the song famous.Electric
Ladyland was his best-selling album, and the Watchtower was the only
single to reach 20th on the US charts during his lifetime.
"Working Class Hero" is a song by John Lennon. He used the song for his 1970 album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.
Revival
The first Allman Brothers song to hit the charts, it reached #92 in America. It was also the band's first song not written byGregg Allman.Guitarist Dickey Betts wrote it.

The fifth and most ambitious studio project of TTB's storied career: 'I Am The Moon,' an epic undertaking in four albums, four films and 24 original songs. Inspired by a mythic Persian tale of star-crossed lovers and emotionally driven by the isolation and disconnection of the pandemic era,

under the names Cleanhead and Joe Willie James. He married Minnie Mae
about 1942.[2] He subsequently married at least twice more.
"The Sky Is Crying" is a song that has become a blues standard. It was written and recorded by Elmore James[1] in 1959. Called "one of his most durable compositions", "The Sky Is Crying" became a R&B record chart hit and has been interpreted and recorded by numerous artists.

I'm wadin in tears lookin for my baby,
And I wonder, where can she be?
I saw my baby one mornin, and she was walkin on down the street.
I saw my baby one mornin, and she was walkin on down the street.
Made me feel so good,
Until my poor heart would skip a beat.
I got a bad feelin, my baby, my baby don't love me no more.

In 1999, Farm Aid ventured into the Washington D.C. area for the first
time. The concert energized farmers and advocates and became a rallying
point for a flurry of events. Hundreds of farmers came to Washington
bearing an urgent message for legislators: “Act now to stop the
destruction of family farms!” Their primary target was the “Freedom to
Farm” bill that had been in place since 1996. This bill had resulted in
record profits for multinational grain traders and big food
manufacturing companies while leaving family farmers bankrupt. The Farm
Aid events inspired farmers to keep on fighting for fair prices and
educated the public about important farm issues. The concert aired live
on CMT: Country Music Television for the second time. The stellar lineup
included Susan Tedeschi, Keb’Mo’, Deana Carter, the Barenaked Ladies,
Dave Matthews Band, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and
others. The music was so good that it went on for an extra half hour!
