Ry Cooder - Bop Till you Drop Live!!!!

Bop till You Drop is Ry Cooder's eighth album, released in 1979 (see 1979 in music). This was the first major-label digitally recorded album of Pop music. It was recorded on a 32-track machine built by 3M.[5][6]
The album consisted almost entirely of covers of earlier R&B and rock'n'roll classics, including Elvis Presley's "Little Sister" and the 1965 Fontella Bass-Bobby McClure hit "Don't Mess Up a Good Thing", on which Cooder duetted with soul star Chaka Khan, who also performed on the only original track on the album, "Down in Hollywood".

Go Home Girl

Thanks for the great music!!! That's "Bop", not "Bob". On Totally Fuzzy, I thought you had a Ry Cooder tribute to Bob Dylan! :)

Prachtige video-opnames uit 1982 van Ry Cooder, Arthur! Bedankt! Zelf heb ik een aantal audio-opnames van Ry Cooder van een concert in Amsterdam (mogelijk oktober 1980) en een radio-opname van 7 maart 1981 van het Hilversum 3 programma NCRV's "Elpee-pop-special". Daarin gaat het over de 4 elpees "Chicken Skin Music", "Show Time", Bop Till You Drop" en "Borderline". Ry Cooder kreeg zijn eerste gouden elpee (Into The Purple Valley, 1972) in Nederland! Het blad Rolling Stone noemde hem ooit de beste hedendaagse bottleneckspeler. Hij beheerst allerlei stijlen, variƫrend van folk rock tot blues, jazz en gospel (bron radiobode maart 1981).

Hi, Arthur. I had Dylan's LPs up through BLONDE ON BLONDE, but never really listened to anything afterwards. And I had maybe 3 of Cooder's early LPs, but I haven't followed his career since then. (Preferred Duane Allman's slide guitar over Ry's.) I imagine their paths did cross. Via Google, I came across this funny snippet from an article:

"[Ry's] reputation as a guitarist is such that, as he hilariously recounts, Bob Dylan showed up at his door one night, unannounced and shabbily dressed, looking for help learning a Sleepy John Estes blues song (and giving the neighbors a good scare in the process)."

And Boy and Ry and Van Dyke Parks performed a Woody Guthrie song for a TV documentary. Other than that, I couldn't find any evidence of them working together at other times.

Anyway, I always enjoy seeing your site updates on Totally Fuzzy - keep up the good work!
