John Platania  ben ik de laatste jaren enkele malen tegengekomen tijdens zijn optredens met ChipTaylor.Een aardige,bescheiden man,die geduldig staat te wachten tijdens de soms wat lange monologen van Chip.Toch blijft hij voor mij onlosmakelijk verbonden met Van Morrison.De klank van zijn gitaar en zijn losse manier van spelen geven de VM concerten altijd wat extra,s.Dit nummer is daar ,denk ik, een mooi voorbeeld van.

The John Hiatt Combo - Have a Little Faith In Me

 "Have a Little Faith in Me" is a song written and performed by John Hiatt that appears on his 1987 album Bring the Family. His version of the song has also appeared on the soundtracks of the movies Look Who’s Talking Now (1993), Benny & Joon (1993), The Theory of Flight (1998), Cake (2005), My Best Friend’s Girl (2008), Love Happens (2009), and Father Figures (2017). Live versions were included on 1994’s Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan? and 2005’s Live from Austin, TX. The song has been included in all of his greatest hits collections, including 1998’s The Best of John Hiatt (as a new, rerecorded version) and Greatest Hits — The A&M Years ’87-’94, 2001’s Anthology, 2003’s 20th Century Masters, and the 2005 box set Chronicles.(Wikipedia)

 The song was the first song written by Hiatt following his sobriety from drugs and alcohol, which had already contributed to his marriage breakdown and his being released by former record labels. Hiatt's original attempt at recording the song took place at a friend's studio and included a larger instrument accompaniment. However, the recording was plagued by technical issues. The morning after, Hiatt was informed that his estranged wife had committed suicide. Hiatt attributes the technical problems with the original recording as a sign that the song was not meant to be heard that way, and he eventually released the song with a much simpler piano accompaniment(Wikipedia)

 Bring the Family is John Hiatt's eighth album. It was his first album to chart on the Billboard 200, and featured his first single entry on the mainstream rock chart with "Thank You Girl". It features Ry Cooder on guitar, Nick Lowe on bass guitar and Jim Keltner on drums. The four would later reform as Little Village and release an album in 1992. "Thing Called Love" later became a hit for Bonnie Raitt, and "Have A Little Faith In Me" is among Hiatt's most popular songs, although it wasn't released as a single in America.

  Tupelo Honey is the fifth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released in October 1971 by Warner Bros. Records. Morrison had written all of the songs on the album in Woodstock, New York, before his move to Marin County, California, except for "You're My Woman", which he wrote during the recording sessions. Recording began at the beginning of the second quarter of 1971 at the Wally Heider Studios, San Francisco. Morrison moved to the Columbia Studios in May 1971 to complete the album.

    Live at the Orpheum Theatre,Memphis 1986 Soul to Soul , the third studio album by American blues rock band Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble released on September 30, 1985 by Epic Records. Recording sessions took place between March and May 1985 at the Dallas Sound Lab in Dallas, Texas.

               "Life Without You" was a song Stevie wrote after the untimely death of his great friend and mentor Charley Wirz. the song shows his love for Charley and how much he truly missed him. The Temperance Movement - Swing Wespelaar (18 Augustus 2018)

Swing Wespelaar,een festival waar ik al jaren graag kom,staat bekend om zijn verrassende en zeer gevarieerde programmering.Meestal toch wel aan blues gerelateerde muziek.maar toch ook wel een vleugjes jazz,roots,country,en zydeco komen  regelmatig voorbij. Met de Temperance Movement werd toch wel een nieuw hoofdstuk op dit festival geschreven,Een geweldige rockband, beetje in de stijl van The Faces,The Black Crows.En een charismatische frontman met de stem van Steve Marriot,de looks van Paul Weller en de moves van Mick Jagger(maar dan beter)Een geweldige show en voor mij de ontdekking van het concertjaar 2018.

The Temperance Movement is opgericht door de uit Glasgow geboren zanger Phil Cambell en de gitaristen Luke Potashnick en Paul Sayer. De rhythmsection bestond in eerste instantie uit bassist Nick Fyffe en de Australische drummer Damon Wilson. Hun eerste EP  Pride kwam uit in 2012 ,gevolg door hun debuut studioalbum in 2013  Ondertussen speeldeze veel samen met band als  Rooster, Ben’s Brother, Jamiroquai, Ray Davies, The Waterboys , Feeder. In 2014 stond The Temperance Movement in het voorprogramma van The Rolling Stones tijden optredens in  Berlin (Waldbühne), Düsseldorf (Esprit Arena) en Vienna (Ernst Happel Stadion) 

Op 26 September 2015, verlaat Luke Potashnick de band,hij wil zich volledig richten op een carriere als songwriter/producer. Een oude vriend van de de band, Matt White is de vervanger en er word gewerkt aan het tweede album  White Bear. 
Op 30 November 2016 verlaat Damon Wilson de band ,hij wil meer tijd besten aan zijn familie. 

  De huidige bezetting The Temperance Movement is

Phill Cambell- vocals,Paul Sayers -guitars,Nick Fyffe -bass,Matt White -guitars,
Simon Lea -drums.

 Ondertussen heeft de band ook alweer een derde album uitgebracht waarvan de laatste – A Deeper Cut – zeer lovende recensies in de media ontving.


 Komende maanden gaat de band op toer door Amerika ,samen met Deep Purple en Judas Priest.Hopenlijk komen ze volgend jaar weer eens deze kant op,dan ben  zeker van de partij!!

De programmeurs hadden het weer mooi voor elkaar op deze 31ste!editie van Swing Wespelaar

Een festival met het motto"Bleus For The People" maar behalve blues een podium voor diverse muziekvormen .Guy King is ook zo,n mooi voorbeeld,een gitarist die toch eigenlijk meer uit de Jazzhoek komt,maar hier op ook op dit festival volkomen tot zijn recht komt.Een mix van Jazz,Blues,Soul en R&B .Mooi optreden!!
