Een festival met voor mij onbekende artiesten als o.a Moira Smiley & Voco(dames a capella groep),singer/songwriter Anais Mitchell en The Guy Mendilow Band.Deze artiesten speelden een compleet spontane en geimproviseerde set met dit schitterende nummer als hoogtepunt Ik vind het erg mooi

Deze song is geschreven door Rev. Robert Wadsworth Lowry in 1869.
Doris Plenn leerde het lied van haar grootmoeder die er van overtuigd was dat het oorspronkelijk een kwam uit de begin tijd van de Quaker beweging , Plenn maakte er deze versie van omstreeks 1950,waarna Pete Seeger en andere folkartiesten het in hun repertoire opnamen.

Ben ondertussen al een paar jaar met dit blog bezig en beleef er veel plezier aan .Veel van de filmpjes die ik hiervoor verzameld heb staan nog op mijn harde schijf en het lijkt me leuk om die nog eens te vertonen.Natuurlijk veel Van Morrison,persoonlijk vind ik dit een hele mooie.

He was noted for his powerful playing and his use of altered tunings and a capo. His long association with the Fender Telecaster led to the title "The Master of the Telecaster"

Joe Ely (born February 9, 1947) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist whose music touches on honky-tonk, Texas country, Tex-Mex and rock and roll.
He has had a genre-crossing career, performing with Bruce Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, Los Super Seven, The Chieftains and James McMurtry in addition to his early work with The Clash and more recent acoustic tours with Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, and Guy Clark.

 Anne Erin "Annie" Clark (born September 28, 1982), known professionally as St. Vincent, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. St. Vincent began her music career as a member of the Polyphonic Spree. She was also a member of Sufjan Stevens's touring band, before forming her own band in 2006. Her debut album was Marry Me (2007), followed by Actor (2009), Strange Mercy (2011), St. Vincent (2014), and Masseduction (2017). She released a collaborative album with David Byrne in 2012 titled Love This Giant.

 St. Vincent contributed backing vocals for Swans on their 2014 album To Be Kind. Her fourth solo album, St. Vincent, was released that same year and was named album of the year by The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly, NME and Slant, as well as second best album of the year by Time. The album won her a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, her first Grammy Award. She was the first solo female performer in 20 years to win a Grammy in that category. In 2018, St. Vincent was included twice in NPR's "200 Greatest songs by 21st Century Women"^[1] at number 181 with "Digital Witness" and number 38 with "Cruel".

Jimi Hendrix spent the sunmmer of 1965 scuffling for gigs and sessions around New York and bumped in to Curtis Knight at the time he was a short of a guitar.(Jimi always losing or pawning instruments)Knight saw Jimi,s potentionel,lent him his guitar and immendiately added him into his band The Squires who played around the bars in New York and Jersey.Curtis Knight was ambitious,A better hustler than he was singer,he figured that the new gitarist would also make an impression in the studio ,so he approached Ed Chaplin ,who ran Studio76 on Broadway (John Perry)

 Talk about a family of fabulists: Chip Taylor, a songwriter with several chart-topping hits; his brothers, Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight and world-renowned vulcanologist Barry Voight; and their father Elmer Voight, a professional golfer. Growing up in that household seems to have given Taylor great material for his new album, Yonkers, N.Y. 

In a folk-based mix of sung memories and spoken recollections, Taylor follows an autobiographical thread, as he discusses everything from his stint as a professional gambler to his father's tall tales of being an FBI agent. Taylor's content is diverse, politically conscious and intellectually stimulating, giving depth to his reflections.

 The Lowe studio version of the song features over the closing credits of the pilot episode of US television show The Sopranos. The song features on the commercially available soundtrack CD. Johnny Cash's version also appears in the 2011 film The Hangover: Part II but Mark Lanegan did a version for the soundtrack.

Richie Havens - Tupelo Honey/Just Like A Woman

Richie Havens (Brooklyn, 21 januari 1941 – Jersey City, 22 april 2013) was een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter en gitarist. Zijn muziek bevatte elementen van folk, soul, en rhythm en blues. Zijn wilde gitaarspel maakte hem in de jaren 60 tot een groot muzikant.

Eric Andersen - Live at Cafe de Amer

Eric Andersen is geb. op 14 feb. 1943 in Pittsburgh. In 1960 maakte hij deel uit van de Greenwich Village folk scene in New York City.Zijn bekendste songs uit die tijd waren "Violets of Dawn", "Come to My Bedside" en "Thirsty Boots" (o.a opgenomen door Judy Collins).

In 1964 maakte Eric zijn debuut in Gerdes Folk City tijdens een live auditie voor Vanguard Records en in datzelfde jaar trad hij op tijdens het Newport Folk Festival samen met Jose Feliciano die dat jaar ook voor het eerst live optrad. In 1966 deed Andersen mee in de Andy Warhol film Space. Hij maakte ook deel uit van de Festival Express tour in Canada in 1970 samen the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band en vele anderen.De film die hiervan gemaakt is is prachtig,zeer aanbevolen

In 1972 tekende Andersen bij Columbia en maakte zijn meest commerciele en meest succesvolle album Blue River.Helaas gingen de mastertapes van zijn volgende album verloren? voor het uitkwam en mede hierdoor raakte Eric toch weer wat uit beeld. .Jaren later(1991) kwamen de tapes alsnog boven water en werden uitgebracht onder de naam Stages: The Lost Album.(vreemd verhaal)

Andersen vertrok bij Columbia en nam sporadisch op voor verschillende labels . In 1975 opende hij voor Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue in Gerde's Folk City en in Niagara Falls. Hierna verdween hij jaren uit beeld ,maar opeens in 1988 verscheen er weer een nieuw album Ghosts Upon the Road.Werd zeer goed ontvangen en stond bij veel muziekrecencenten op de ,,Best Off,, lijsten

In 1990 formeert Andersen het trio Danko/Fjeld/Andersen Ze maken drie talbums en treden zo,n 9 jaar op.. In 1998 kom er weer een solo album van Eric uit ,, Memory of the Future,,Twee jaar later het album You Can't Relive The Past, met originele bluesnummers en een selctie song die hij samen schreef met Townes Van Zandt.In 2003 komt er een dubbelalbum uit onder de naam Beat Avenue. Zij volgende albums The Street Was Always There in 2004 en Waves in 2005 bevatten naast eigen songs nieuwe versies van songs van David Blue, Bob Dylan, Richard Fariña, Tim Hardin, Peter La Farge, Fred Neil, Phil Ochs, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Paul Siebel, Patrick Sky, Tom Paxton, John Sebastian, Happy Traum, Lou Reed and Tom Rush.

In zijn bijna 50 jarige carriere zijn veel van zijn songs gezongen en opgenomen door de volgende artiesten zoals
