De komst van de DVD betekende tegelijk ook het einde van de ouderwetse video .De over een aantal jaren met veel geduld opgenomen live opnames van festivals als o.a Pink Pop,Glastonbury ,Live Aid,Woodstock,Torhout/Werchter,prachtige uitzendingen van bv Jools Holland en RockPalast gingen incl videospeler in een grote doos en verdwenen naar de zolder.Bij het opruimen hiervan kwam de doos weer eens tevoorschijn ,de player toch maar weer eens aangesloten.De meeste video,s blijken toch nog van een behoorlijke kwaliteit te zijn,hoewel er ook enkele het niet meer zo goed deden.Ik ben nu in het bezit van een handig apparaatje om de video,s om te zetten naar DVD .Het kost wel wat tijd maar ik ga de beste delen toch maar overzetten naar DVD. En natuurlijk zullen er ook op mijn blog delen te zien zijn.

Het Woodstock 1994 werd voor een groot gedeelte uitgezonden op RTL4 en ik heb er behoorlijk wat van opgenomen.Het optreden van de AllmanBrothers was voor mij toch wel een van de hoogtepunten. Mooi is de interactie tussen Dicky Betts en Warren Haynes.
Warren en bassist Allan Woody zou we later weer tegenkomen in Govt Mule wat tegenwoordig weer een van mijn favoriete bands is. Allan is helaas op 26 Augustus 2000 overleden.

Number 125 Hyndford Street, in
east Belfast, doesn’t look like the cradle of a lifetime’s dreams,
memories and associations. It’s a tiny, blank-faced two-up-two-down
terrace house, no different from any of the other red-brick homes
alongside it. That’s apart from the discreet plaque beside the front
door, which announces that Van Morrison was born here on August 31st,
1945.
His father,
George, was an electrician at the nearby Harland and Wolff shipyard;
more significantly, George was also a keen collector of jazz and blues
records, which he bought from a man called Solly Lipsitz, who owned
Atlantic Records on High Street.
Over his
songwriting career Morrison has returned again and again, in spirit, to
his childhood home and its nearby streets, rivers and parks, and these
places have never lost their hold on his imagination.

Een ontmoeting met Jack Hustinx vorig jaar tijdens het Bonnie Raitt concert in de Rivierenhof in Antwerpen.Het gesprek kwam op de komende tour van Malford Milligan & The Souther Aces in 2019.Het t,Beest mocht daarin naar mijn idee niet ontbreken,Een berichtje naar programmeur Frank was voldoende,die was gelijk overtuigd.en korte tijd later kreeg ik het bericht van Jack dat ze geboekt waren op dit mooie podium.Het gevolg, dit geweldige optreden in een lekker volle zaal.!

Malford Milligan was born in Taylor, Texas, to Frank and Mary Milligan. In 1981, after a period as a sociology student at Texas Tech University, Milligan moved to Austin to begin studies at the University of Texas.
Instead, his Monday night blues jams became the beginning of a life in
music. His first local band, Stick People, launched his career as a
singer.

In 2002 Milligan recorded and released the Sweet Cherry Soul
album, backed by a band from The Netherlands that was put together by
Milligan's friend and Dutch musician/producer Jack Hustinx.[1]
The album contains original material written by Milligan & Hustinx
as well as a blend of known and obscure Soul, Rhythm & Blues and
Gospel classics. Also two songs written by Milligan's close friend Stephen Bruton
were included. This band, The Malford Milligan Band, played three tours
in The Netherlands in 2002-2003, as well as a tour in and around
Milligan's hometown Austin, Texas, in 2003.

Also in 2017, Malford and Hustinx teamed up again. In May 2018, the two
announced a new album they had been collaborating on for the last year,
co-writing songs and exchanging ideas for a new Malford Milligan &
The Southern Aces album that Hustinx would be producing. Life Will Humble You was released late October 2018 on the Dutch label Royal Family Records [4] (founded by renowned Dutch singer/songwriter JW Roy). Coinciding tours in both The Netherlands and Texas are also scheduled.

Richard George Manuel (Stratford (Canada), 3 april 1943 – Winter Park (Florida), 4 maart 1986)
On March 4th 1986, the Band's lead singer, pianist, and drummer Richard Manuel
died in a motel room in Winter Park, Florida, while touring with the reunited Band.
His emotional, soulful voice and his beautiful songwriting was essential to the success of the
original group.

In "No Hard Feelings", Cooder sings from the perspective of a lowly
prospector who scolds businessmen for dealing with land exclusively in
business terms.He dismisses the rich and elite as "ripples" in history and is willing to tolerate them provided that they avoid conflict.
In contrast to other albums by Colosseum, The Grass Is Greener was released only in the United States and Canada, on the Dunhill label, distributed by ABC. It was conceived as a North American alternative to November 1969's Valentyne Suite,
complete with a muted, blue-green variation of the aforementioned
album's cover. It features four tracks recorded with then-new
guitarist/vocalist Dave "Clem" Clempson in the winter of 1969 ("Jumping
Off The Sun," "Lost Angeles," "Rope Ladder To The Moon," "Bolero");
three tracks from the 1969 Vertigo LP Valentyne Suite but with
vocal and guitar parts provided by Clempson ("Butty's Blues," "The
Machine Demands A Sacrifice," "The Grass Is Greener") instead of James
Litherland; and one track, "Elegy," that appears to be the same as the
original from Valentyne Suite, including Litherland's vocal. The
record was remastered and released as a bonus disc in Sanctuary Records'
2003 deluxe CD edition of Valentyne Suite.

Bloomfield with his Sunburst 1959 Gibson Les Paul, which he had acquired
only a few moths earlier, in the spring of 1967.
Erja Lyytinen (born July 7, 1976 in Kuopio, Finland) is a Finnish vocalist, guitarist and songwriter.
"The Sky Is Crying" is a song that has become a blues standard. It was written and recorded by Elmore Jamesin 1959. Called "one of his most durable compositions", "The Sky Is Crying" became a R&B record chart hit and has been interpreted and recorded by numerous artists.
Lyytinen started playing guitar at age fifteen and sang in a soul music group. Her influences include singers Aretha Franklin, Koko Taylor, and Bonnie Raitt. Lyytinen is a 1995 graduate of Kuopio Senior High of Music and Dance.
She studied from 1995 to 1997 at the Kuopio Conservatory, 1997-1998 in
Malmö Music Academy and 2003 in Copenhagen Rytmisk Konservatorium in
Denmark, and has a Master of Music degree from Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.[1]
Lyytinen's debut album was the 2002 release Attention!, released by Bluelight Records. Wildflower (2003) and It's A Blessing (2005) were also released by Bluelight Records. In 2005 she signed with the German label Ruf Records and Blues Caravan with Aynsley Lister and Ian Parker. She recorded her third solo album Dreamland Blues in 2006 at Oxford, Mississippi with David Kimbrough and Kinney Kimbrough, both sons of the Mississippi blues legend Junior Kimbrough.
After two years relentless touring, she returned with a gritty Grip of the Blues in 2008, mixing hard-edged blues with modern R&B. Her 2010 release Voracious Love featured contributions from Marco Hietala (Nightwish) on vocals and Apocalyptica's cellist Paavo Lötjönen. Ruf Records also release her first live DVD/CD on the label's prestige collection of live releases titled Songs From The Road,
which has featured Luther Allison, Jeff Healey, Canned Heat, Joanne
Shaw Taylor and Royal Southern Brotherhood amongst others. Forbidden Fruit
was the last release by Erja Lyytinen on Ruf Records and it featured
co-written songs by Alan Darby who has also written songs for Bonnie Tyler and Bonnie Raitt.
After her stint on Ruf Records, Erja Lyytinen founded together with her then-partner Davide Floreno,
a label called Tuohi Records. Tuohi Records has been releasing all
Erja's albums up to the present day. Tuohi Records' first release The Sky Is Crying in 2013 was a tribute to the late Elmore James,
where Erja returned to her blues roots and paid homage to one of the
great originators of the slide guitar. The 2015 Tuohi Records release Live In London captured Erja and her band at its peak condition at one of London' most historic (and still-running venues) 100 Club. In the summer of 2016 she ventured to LondonState of the Ark Studio to record her Stolen Hearts album with engineer and producer Chris Kimsey. Lyytinen has toured across Europe and has performed on all major blues/roots festivals. She has been the supporting act for Walter Trout, Carlos Santana, Southside Johnny, John Mayall and Wishbone Ash. Erja has also shared the stage and jammed with Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa and Sonny Landreth.
