 "Blowin' in the Wind" is a song written by Bob Dylan in 1962. It was released as a single and included on his album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963. It has been described as a protest song and poses a series of rhetorical questions about peace, war, and freedom. The refrain "The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind" has been described as "impenetrably ambiguous: either the answer is so obvious it is right in your face, or the answer is as intangible as the wind"

Meerman & Van Ligten - A Man Needs A Maid (Neil Young)

 Kees Meerman (Vlissingen, 23 augustus 1950 – Ommen, 13 september 2014) was een Nederlands drummer die in de tweede helft van de jaren zeventig bekend werd als lid van Herman Broods begeleidingsband Wild Romance.

 Meerman kreeg van Brood de bijnaam "Ani Meerman". Hij speelde na de Wild Romance tot 1980 bij AA & The Doctors en The Meteors. Daarna stapte hij over van zijn drumstel naar de gitaar en vormde hij 10 jaar lang als gitarist/zanger een duo met gitarist/zanger Erwin van Ligten. Aan die samenwerking kwam op 13 september 2014 een einde toen hij in zijn woonplaats Ommen overleed

Erwin van Ligten (Surabaya, 11 juli 1957) is een gitarist, zanger en songwriter, die in diverse bands en met diverse artiesten speelt vanaf de jaren 70 tot heden. 

 

 

Lester Butler with The Red Devils & 13 (Repost)

Lester Butler (12 november 1959 – 10 mei 1998) was een invloedrijk Amerikaanse bluesartiest. In een zeer korte tijd heeft hij veel invloed gehad op de blues. Bekend is hij als zanger en mondharmonicaspeler van de the Red Devils. Hij speelde o.a. samen met R.L. Burnside en Mick Jagger. Veel officiële albums van hem zijn er niet uitgebracht. Wel is er een aantal live-concerten vastgelegd op bootleg cd's. Deze zijn zeer gewild onder fans

Harmonica speler en zanger Lester Butler zong de blues en speelde op een prachtige manier de harmonica. In de vroege jaren 90's was hij de leider van de The Red Devils, een blues band die veel optrad in de L.A. club scene. Het door Rick Rubin geproduceerde live album "King King" bracht hun nationale en internationale bekendheid met als gevolg lange toernees met gastoptredens van Mick Jagger, Bruce Willis, Lenny Kravitz, Peter Wolf en ZZ Top gitarist Billy Gibbons



Ze speeden samen met The Allman Brothers en Los Lobos in zalen als the House of Blues in Hollywood, Killian's in Torrance, The Blue Cafe in Long Beach en op de grote festivals over de hele wereld.
Mick Jagger nam de band mee de studio in voor de opnames van zijn soloalbum Wandering Spirit,maar de opgenomen tracks werden niet gebruikt

Alex Schultz, van Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers vormde samen met Butler de groep 13.
De band stond op het punt om door te breken toen Lester onverwacht overleed op 38 jarige leeftijd

King King is the debut album by the blues-rock band the Red Devils. It was recorded live at King King Club in Los Angeles^[1] during three or four of their regular Monday-night performances in 1991.^[2]

The album captures the immediacy and informality of a small club performance.^[3] It features the band's interpretation of blues songs originally recorded by Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin' Wolf, and Willie Dixon as well as some band originals.

He Said "It's a hard life playing music for a living, but on the other hand, I'd rather be happy poor and playing music for the rest of my life" and credits "the healing force of the blues." R.I.P. Lester Butler, May 10th 1998

Ry Cooder - "Tamp 'Em Up Solid"

Ry Cooder’s “Tamp ‘Em Up Solid” is an updated rendition of a traditional American song that originated from railroad work chants. The earliest recorded versions are from 1930s field recordings made by John and Alan Lomax in the American south, including ones by ex-railroad workers Sam “Old Dad” Ballard and Henry Truvillion.

Little Village was an American/British rock band, formed in 1991 by Ry Cooder (guitar, vocal), John Hiatt (guitar, piano, vocal), Nick Lowe (bass, vocal) and Jim Keltner (drums). Each of the group's members had previously worked on Hiatt's 1987 album Bring The Family, and formed in 1991 while on a break from their own musical projects.

Little Village is the only studio album by the band Little Village. The band, a super-group comprising Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner, released the album, went on a tour of the US and Europe to support it, and disbanded the year of its release. They had previously worked as a group while recording Hiatt's solo album Bring the Family in 1987. Although all songs are credited to all four group members, Hiatt sang all but three, with two sung by Lowe and one by Cooder. "She Runs Hot", "Solar Sex Panel" and "Don't Go Away Mad" were released as singles. The Solar Sex Panel EP contained a new non-album track "Do With Me What You Want to Do" written by Cooder/Hiatt/Keltner/Lowe and sung by Lowe, as well as a cover of the novelty song "Haunted House", originally released by Jumpin' Gene Simmons in 1964, and sung by Cooder. "Do with Me What You Want to Do" was also included as a B-side on the "Don't Go Away Mad" single (Wikipedia)

At the Grammy Awards of 1993, Little Village was nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

Bob Dylan - Tell Me,Momma (Paris ,May 24-1966)

 Tell Me, Momma is a song written by Bob Dylan and performed exclusively during his 1966 World Tour with the Band (then known as the Hawks). It was used to introduce the second half of a concert, when Dylan switched from an acoustic solo performance to an electric performance backed by a band. The song was not recorded on a studio album, nor was it ever performed again by Dylan in concert.

The song was shown played live by Dylan and The Band during his 1966 U.K.Tour; a performance of the song at Paris' L'Olympia on 24 May 1966 featured in D. A. Pennebaker's documentary Eat the Document. The same video of Dylan and the Hawks shown in Eat the Document was shown in Martin Scorsese's 2005 Documentary No Direction Home.

 James Thomas Kevin Byrnes (born September 22, 1948) is an American actor and blues musician. 

In 1968 Jim was drafted and served in the Vietnam War for a year in the 196th Infantry Brigade. He has lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, since the mid-1970s. On February 26, 1972, he was struck by a passing car while he attempted to help move a stalled truck on the Island Highway North of Parksville, which injured his legs and forced them both to be amputated.

As a musician, Byrnes has won the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year three times, for That River in 1996 and House of Refuge on Black Hen Music in 2007, and for Everywhere West in 2011. Byrnes was also honoured at the 2006 Maple Blues Awards, as Male Vocalist of the Year.^[5] The Canadian Folk Music Awards recognized him as the Contemporary Singer of the Year in 2006 and 2009

Steve Dawson is an award-winning Canadian guitarist, pedal steel player, multi-instrumentalist, producer and engineer living and working in Nashville, TN. He spent the last few years on the road playing guitar with Birds of Chicago, and Canadian powerhouse Matt Andersen.

 Tedeschi formed the Susan Tedeschi Band in 1993, with Tom Hambridge and Adrienne Hayes. She learned how to play blues guitar in Boston from musician Tim Gearan in 1995. In December 1993, the band released Better Days to regional audiences. Record contracts were difficult to keep together; however, recording sessions from 1997 were acquired by Richard Rosenblatt and the band was signed to indie label Tone-Cool Records. Just Won't Burn, featuring young guitarist Sean Costello, was released in February 1998 to very positive reviews, particularly from blues critics and publications.
