Gerry and the Pacemakers were a British beat group prominent in the 1960s Merseybeat scene. In common with The Beatles, they came from Liverpool, were managed by Brian Epstein, and were recorded by George Martin.^[1] Their early successes alongside the Beatles were instrumental in popularizing the Merseybeat sound and launching the wider British beat boom of the mid-1960s.

              "Ferry Cross the Mersey"

 "Ferry Cross the Mersey" is a song written by Gerry Marsden. It was first recorded by his band Gerry and the Pacemakers and released in late 1964 in the UK and in 1965 in the United States. It was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching number six in the United States^[2] and number eight in the UK.^[3] The song is from the film of the same name and was released on its soundtrack album. In the mid-1990s, a musical theatre production, also titled Ferry Cross the Mersey, related Gerry Marsden's Merseybeat days; it premiered in Liverpool and played in the UK, Australia, and Canada

Gerry Marsden announced his retirement on 29 November 2018, in order to spend more time with family, but, on 6 June 2019, to commemorate Liverpool's win against Tottenham in the Champions League, he surprised Take That fans by singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" at their show at Anfield.

Original bass player Les Chadwick died on 26 December 2019.

Gerry Marsden died on 3 January 2021.

The Blasters

                                 

The Blasters are an American rock and roll band formed in 1979 in Downey, California, by brothers Phil Alvin (vocals and guitar) and Dave Alvin (guitar), with bass guitarist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman. Their self-described "American Music" is a blend of rockabilly, early rock and roll, punk rock, mountain music, and rhythm and blues and country.

They say everything old becomes new again, and California’s Blasters proved it in 1981 by jumping into the national spotlight with an utterly familiar brew of blues, rockabilly and rock’n’roll. The Blasters established the quintet nationwide. Originally released on LA independent Slash, it did so well that the label was able to strike a licensing/distribution deal with Warner Bros. No wonder: it smokes. The band is tighter than a drum, and Dave Alvin’s songs — including “No Other Girl,” a re-recorded “Marie, Marie” and “Border (Trouser Press)

 

Border Radio (feat.Gene Taylor)

 Gene Taylor joined after the release of American Music (1980), performing boogie woogie-style piano (he remained with the band through late 1985). Later on, Steve Berlin joined on baritone sax, forming a horn tandem with Lee Allen.

 The Blasters' energetic live performances gained a local following, and they became fixtures of the early 1980s Los Angeles punk rock scene. They performed alongside X, Black Flag, The Gun Club, the Screamers and others. The L.A. scene of the time also featured the cowpunk genre, and a notable example was how The Blasters helped country artist Dwight Yoakam get established. They toured together in 1985

 Another local band that formed a strong musical bond with The Blasters was Los Lobos. The Mexican-American group first became friends with the Downey group in 1976. About five years later, The Blasters invited Los Lobos to open for them and also helped get the young men from East L.A. their first record deal. Steve Berlin made a transition to Los Lobos, with The Blasters' blessing.

Dave Alvin, the group's primary songwriter, left The Blasters in 1986. Like many other pairs of rock 'n' roll siblings, the Alvins got into fights with each other. In 2015, Dave also recalled that the internal tension in the band extended beyond his tumultuous relationship with Phil. Ultimately, though, he wanted to sing his own songs. Dave joined X for a brief stint before launching his critically acclaimed solo career. However, Hollywood Fats (birth name: Michael L. Mann) soon came aboard, appearing with The Blasters at Farm Aid II.

Ondanks de titel van het album Positive Vibrations (1974) ging Ten Years After in 1975 uit elkaar.

Geen slecht album maar je kan toch merken dat de spirit er een beetje uit is .Alvin Lee was ondertussen  ook   al met diverse soloprojecten bezig.Hij begon in 1978 de band Ten Years Later(niet bijster originele naam) met Mick Hawksworth op bas en Tom Compton op drums.In 1980 werd het The Alvin Lee Band.Mick Hawksworth was niet meer van de partij,de nieuwe bandleden waren Steve Gould en Micky Feat.

 In 1988 kwam de Ten Years After nog een keer bij elkaar in de originele bezetting .Er volgde  een serie reunie optredens ,o.a op het bluesfestival in Tegelen. Dit optreden heb ik helaas gemist ,maar deze beelden uit Canada laten zien dat de band  na 15 jaar nog niets aan kracht had ingeboet.

Ze brachten zelfs nog een nieuw allbum "About Time" maar in 1989 ging de band weer uit elkaar,deze keer definitief. Rick Lee probeerde in 2001 de band nog een keer bij elkaar te krijgen om het album "TYA Live at the Fillmore East 1970" te promoten maar broertje Alvin had daar geen zin meer in.
Onbegrijpelijk,maar het zal wel met te grote ego,s te maken hebben.Ik denk in dit geval het ego van Alvin  Lee

 The band officially formed in North Carolina in 2006, after front woman Noah Wall met mandolinist Tommy Norris in high school and discovered a convergence of aligned passions. That initial crackle of intensity never waned and instead became the force catalyzing the band through its various iterations. Today, the Barefoot Movement is comprised of Noah Wall—whose powerhouse vocals, songwriting, and fiddle playing serve as the backbone of the band—mandolinist Tommy Norris, and upright bassist Katie Blomarz rounding out their unique blend of charming, modern roots music.

The band navigated the pandemic by creating “The Barefoot Movement Variety Show,” a live stream featuring special guests, live and pre recorded material, and assorted other musical shenanigans and collaborations. Group 1850 - Mother No Head/Zero

Groep 1850 (also known as Group 1850) was a Dutch psychedelic rock band that was founded in 1964 in The Hague. The band, despite never achieving success outside the Netherlands, are now considered one of the most innovative acid rock bands from the era

 They first used the name Klits, but were renamed Groep 1850 in 1966 when their debut single, "Misty Night" / "Look Around", appeared on the tiny Yep label. Though few copies were pressed, it established them as one of The Netherlands most original bands (alongside the Outsiders and Q65) and they soon signed to Philips. More singles ensued, in a highly psychedelic vein, including the "Mother No Head".

 Their debut album, Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth, appeared in late 1968. In The Netherlands its sleeve had a 3-D image on the cover, and came with a pair of 3-D glasses. A UK release (also on Philips) did not help the band gain a footing outside the Netherlands, and Philips dropped them soon afterwards. Their next album, Paradise Now, appeared on the Dutch Discofoon label in 1969 and was only marginally less acid-influenced than its predecessor.(Wikipedia)

The elegant Sam Cooke was one of the most successful crossover R&B stars of the Sixties. On this January night in 1963, performing for a black audience in a packed Miami club, he let his raw, soulful side break free ("don't fight it," he tells the audience, "we're gonna feel it"). Cooke's connection with the rapturous crowd is electric, the band swings like crazy and his versions of classics like "Having A Party" and "Bring It On Home To Me" rock as hard anything else going at the time. RCA Records found the results a too intense for his pop image, and shelved the performance — when they did release a live album it was 1964's comparatively toned down At the Copa.
