Een  mooie avond in de prachtige nostalgische concertzaal De Roma..Op het de podium een van grondlegger van de symfonische rock de band YES ,jawel ze bestaan nog steeds.Weliswaar met nog maar twee leden uit de beginperiode ,Steve Howe en Alan White,de muziek staat nog steeds als een huis.

Het optreden bestond uit twee delen,de openingmuziek was The Firebird Suite van Igor Stravinsky
en daarna barste de band los.Yours is no disgrace, Iv,e seeen good people,geweldige binnekomers natuurlijk.Wat gelijk opvalt de stem van zanger Jon Javidson,indentiek aan die van Jon Anderson.Sweet Dreams,South of the Sky,Onward(opgedragen aan Chris Squire),Mood for a day,Wonderous Story,s,Paralels,And you and I..Het eerste gedeelte was omgevlogen,louter hoogtepunten ,mede door het superieure gitaarwerk van Steve Howe.

We hadden de koffie net achter de kiezen of de band betrad het podium alweer voor de tweede set.
Deze bestond uit een intergrale uitvoering van het album Tales From Topographic Oceans.Een lange set en wat een muzikanten!Natuurlijk Steve Howe,maar ook Geoff Downes achter de keys en Billy Sherwood  tilden de muziek op een hoger niveau. Drummer Alan White,die wegens rugproblemen niet het hele optreren mee kon doen had ondertussen plaatsgenomen achter de drumkit.
 De toegift bestond uit Roundabout en Starship Trooper .Prachtige afsluiters van een absolute topavond!!

Chris Cain & Band - Bluesclub De Viersprong (16 Maart - 2017)

Vorig jaar een van de hoogtepunten op het festival Swing Wespelaar in Belgie.Het was dan ook een aangename verrassing dat op deze koude vrijdagavond Chris Cain in Bluesclub De Viersprong stond geprogrammeerd.

 De zeer sympathieke Chris Cain had er duidelijk zin in deze avand,met als gevolg een bijna 2  uur durend optreden  .Van de eerste tot de laatste minuut boeiend  en zeer geinspereerd

De invloed van B.B King is goed merkbaar,o.a door zijn gitaarspel,maar ook zeker door zijn manier van zingen,.

Met een hoofdrol voor de keyboardplayer (from Praag) en bassist Walter.
En toen ging de gitaarband kapot.........

 De reparatie van de band duurde nog al een tijdje,dus Chris achter de piano.
Met behulp van van de keyboardspeler deze prachtige uitvoering van dit Ray Charles nummer.
Volledig geimproviseerd ,en voor mij een van de hoogtepunten van de avond .

Het was weer een zeer geslaagde avond.Met dank aan de organisatie en hoop dat er nog veel mooie zullen volgen.

David LaFlamme, who as a youth had formerly once performed as a soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, had previously been in the group Orkustra playing five-string violin. The other members of It's a Beautiful Day in its early years were Hal Wagenet (guitar), Mitchell Holman (bass) and Val Fuentes (drums). Pattie Santos sang lead on "White Bird", "Hot Summer Day" and "The Dolphin Song". The band had a regional radio hit with "Don and Dewey". Later that year, the original lineup of the band changed; the LaFlammes had split and Linda left the band, replaced by Fred Webb. The following album, Marrying Maiden, recorded at Pacific High Recording Studio in San Francisco,^[5] released in 1970, was their most successful in the charts. Cees Meerman begon zijn carrière in het begin van de jaren zestig. Hij was een bekend gezicht in de plaatselijke rockscene. Zo speelde hij onder andere in de Zeeuwse bands The Lightnings, The Night Revellers en Minisink Townhouse. Ook maakte hij kort deel uit van de Haagse band Smyle.

Het meest bekend werd Cees Meerman natuurlijk als drummer van Wild Romance de band van Herman Brood .Samen met Danny Lademacher op gitaar en Freddy Cavalli zorgde hij voor het unieke rock & roll geluid van Nederland eind jaren 70
