Eric Clapton & JJ Cale - San Diego 2007.

     The concert took place during the two-year long "Doyle & Derek World Tour" Clapton held together with Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks from 2006 to 2007 leading up to the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 at Chicago's Toyota Park.Both audio and video filming for the release began on 15 March 2007 during the concert at the Ipayone Center in San Diego, California.^[9] Before performing with Cale at the venue, Clapton said: "This is the realization of what may have been my last ambition: to work with the man whose music has inspired me for as long as I can remember."



Soundcheck/rehearsels

Critic George Varga from the San Diego Union Tribune reviewed: "Thursday's show was the sole date to feature a cameo by Cale, who has long been one of Clapton's idols. Sitting side-by-side with Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall, Clapton and Cale amiably sang and played together on such Cale-penned gems as 'After Midnight' [and] 'Cocaine'. Clearly delighted, Clapton beamed and grinned throughout Cale's five-song guest spot."^[11]




Rhythm guitarist Doyle Bramhall II told the online magazine The Wall Street Journal that "[we] were in the middle of a tour when Eric brought J. J. on for the show in San Diego, so it felt like we were a well-oiled band ready to support; Eric and J. J. could just let go and not think about anything other than the magic they were creating." When Bramhall II was asked about the performance, he described it as a "slide-guitar orchestra" and added: "It was a very high energy song and I remember feeling like we were holding on to it like a ride."



Live in San Diego is the thirteenth live album by the British rock musician Eric Clapton. It was released on 30 September 2016 through Reprise Records. Special guests on the Live in San Diego release include guitarists J. J. Cale, ... gramophone record was recorded on 15 March 2007 at the Ipayone Center in San Diego, ..

Bob Dylan & Van Morrison - Knocking On Heaven,s Door - June 24th 1998 NEC Arena Birmingham.

Beetje door de HD scrollen en kom dit leuke fragment weer eens tegen..

      In 1998 deed Van Morrison een tour samen met Bob Dylan.Van verzorgde het eerste deel ,Bob het  tweede Ik zag  ze samen dat jaar op 15 Juni in Ahoy Rotterdam .Een enkele keer deelden ze samen het podium,de mensen in Birmingham hadden geluk,een gezamenlijke uitvoering van Knocking On Heaven,s Door.Mooi moment op 2.15 als Bob de mondharmonica tevoorschijn tovert,de verbaasde blik van Van en daarna een prachtige harmonica solo.......

Knockin' on Heaven's Door , geschreven door Bob Dylan. Het nummer werd uitgebracht op het album Pat Garett & Billy the Kid, de soundtrack van de gelijknamige film van Sam Peckinpah, uitgebracht in juli 1973, waarvoor Dylan de muziek schreef en waarin hijzelf de rol speelt van "Alias"

Ik heb het nog even nagekeken,het is precies 21 jaar geleden dat ik een nog zeer jonge Kenny Wayne Shepherd zag optreden in het voorprogramma van The Eagles in De Kuip (Rotterdam)Ik was hem toch een beetje uit het oog verloren en deze avond betekende een hernieuwde kennismaking. Een prachtig optreden ,een mix van rock en blues .Uitstekend gitaarwerk ,en  Noah Hunt is een erg goeie zanger.Een van de hoogtepunten van een toch al mooie eerste avond van het H.I.B.F.

Drie jaar geleden was de eerste kennismaking met Laurence Jones in Bluesclub de Viersprong.Was toen behoorlijk onder de indruk van die jongen.Later zag ik hem op het bluesfestival in Kwadendamme en dan nu op het grote podium van het HIBF in Grolloo.

 Een nieuwe band ,bestaande uit Phil Wilson op drums,Greg Smith op bass en Bennet Holland(voorheen King King?) op de keys.Vooral de laatste  is een aanwinst in deze stevig rockende band. Heerlijk optreden voor een zeer enthousiaste tent.

Hierbij was het nog niet gedaan voor Laurence ,later op de avond mocht hij samen met Buddy Guy het festival afsluiten.

Ray Charles live at the Leverkusener Jazztage -Leverkusen 19 Nov.1993

Veel aandacht voor de ,,zwarte ,, muziek op de Nederlandse Radio en TV afgelopen week.Prachtige muziek maar opmerkelijk weinig aandacht voor Ray Charles.In de zwarte Top 100 komen we hem pas op de 35ste! plaats tegen en dat kan natuurlijk niet.Daarom op Arthur,s Musical Journey Ray Charles The Genius!


Ray Charles Robinson (Albany (Georgia), 23 september 1930 – Beverly Hills (Californië), 10 juni 2004) was een blinde Amerikaans zanger/pianist en een groot vertolker van de moderne blues en de rhythm-and-blues.

"Georgia on My Mind" geschreven in 1930 door Hoagy Carmichael (music) en Stuart Gorrell (lyrics).
Ray Charles, wonend in Georgia,nam het nummer op in 1960 voor het album The Genius Hits the Road. Het werd het officiele volkslied van Georgia in 1979. Geinspireerd door deze bluesversie introduceerde Willie Nelson de song voor een country publiek. Het werd in 1978 een No.1 hit in de Country en Western charts.


How Long Has This Been Going On
Prachtige song van Ira & George Gerswin.Van Morrison heeft ook een mooie versie op zijn repetoire.Zijn album met de gelijknamige titel ,opgenomen in Ronnie Scotts Club in London is het beluisteren zeker waard.


I Cant Stop Lovin You
Geschreven door Don Gibson,die het voor het eerst opnam op 30 Dec.1957.
Ray Charles nam het nummer in 1962 op voor zijn zeer verrassende Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music album. De Ray Charles cover versie bereikte zowel de nummer 1 plaats in de Billboard Hot 100 in 1962, als in de U.S. R&B charts.Op de Rolling Stone lijst van de 500 Greatest Songs of All Time staat het nummer op 161 en no 49 op CMT's 100 Greatest Songs in Country Music.

Gregg Allman/Derek Trucks /Warren Haynes - Live Acoustic April 13, 2013 Madison Square Garden.

         Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks perform  at the fourth Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival. This was from night two on April 13, 2013 at Madison Square Garden.

      "The Needle and the Damage Done" is a song by Neil Young that describes the destruction caused by the heroin addiction of musicians he knew. Though not specifically about him, the song was inspired by the heroin addiction of his friend and Crazy Horse bandmate Danny Whitten. It previews the theme of the Tonight's the Night album that reflects Young's grief over the heroin overdose and death of both Whitten and Bruce Berry, a roadie for Young and Crazy Horse.

      "Midnight Rider" is a song by the American rock band the Allman Brothers Band. It was the second single from their second studio album, Idlewild South (1970), released on Capricorn Records. The song was primarily written by vocalist Gregg Allman, who first began composing it at a rented cabin outside of Macon, Georgia. He enlisted the help of roadie Robert Kim Payne to complete the song's lyrics. He and Payne broke into Capricorn Sound Studios to complete a demo of the song.
While the original Allman Brothers release of the song did not chart, "Midnight Rider" was much more successful in cover versions. Gregg Allman's solo version of the song, released in 1973, was its biggest chart success; it was a top 20 hit in the U.S. and Canada. A cover by Jamaican singer, Paul Davidson, represented its biggest peak in the United Kingdom, where it hit number ten. Country artist Willie Nelson also recorded a version of the song that peaked at number six on U.S. country charts.
