The song was first publicly performed in February 1906, in the Broadway production Abyssinia.
The show, which included live camels, was premièred at the Majestic
Theater and continued the string of hits for the vaudeville team of
Williams and Walker. "Nobody," became Bert Williams' signature theme,
and the song he is best remembered for today. It is a doleful and ironic
composition, replete with his dry observational wit, and is perfectly
complemented by Williams' intimate, half-spoken singing style.
Williams became so identified with the song that he was obliged to
sing it in almost every appearance for the rest of his life. He
considered its success both blessing and curse:

Niet alleen blues op Swing Wespelaar,maar ook Deep Soul en (Hard) Rock met Nikki Hill en haar band.Dit was de toegift van haar optreden ,en een tegelijk een sfeerbeeld van dit mooie festival.
Hailing from Durham, North Carolina, Nikki comes by her Deep South soul
honestly. Her musical roots began while singing in gospel choirs at
church as a child. A stint living in nearby college town Chapel Hill
introduced her to many different styles of music and the awareness of
music (and more importantly, unique and non-mainstream music) as a
possible career. After pairing up with her guitar-playing husband Matt
Hill, they have made an unstoppable team and have established themselves
as roots rock and roll powerhouses!
Nikki Hill’s self-titled EP released in June of 2012 created a heavy and
sudden international underground buzz that the band has traveled with
from state to state and overseas. Those 4 tunes penned by Hill herself,
proved that they have an energy that appeals to everyone who is ready to
dance, drawing crowds from every avenue at their shows. One club
advertisement will call Nikki “The Southern Fireball”, “the new soul
sensation”, “amazing R&B shouter”, and even “the new Queen of Rock
and Roll”. Moving into 2013 with more songs, more energy, and a desire
to play their music for the world, the band is still gaining momentum
and appear to have no plans of stopping, as they are continuing to tour
all over the United States, Europe and Australia after Hill’s newest
debut full length album Here’s Nikki Hill, released in April 2013, helps
them spread their message of rock ‘n’ soul to believers and new
converts everywhere!

Bij aankomst op het gezellige festivalterrein in het gezellige Wespelaar (onder de kerk) was Ralph de Jong al begonnen.Een mooie start ,ik zag Ralph dit jaar al met complete band(Ridderkerk),zag hem diverse keren solo ,en deze keer als trio.Zoal gewoonlijk weer een prachtig optreden ,100% inzet en een mooi begin van het festival.
Although already a big act in the UK, and now gaining some attention in the US after playing some New York dates two months earlier, The Who were propelled into the American mainstream at Monterey. The band used rented Vox amps for their set, which were not as powerful as their regular Sound City amps which they had left in England to save shipping costs. At the end of their frenetic performance of "My Generation", the audience was stunned as guitarist Pete Townshend smashed his guitar, smoke bombs exploded behind the amps and frightened concert staff rushed onstage to retrieve expensive microphones. At the end of the mayhem, drummer Keith Moon kicked over his drum kit as the band exited the stage. The Who, after winning a coin toss, performed before Jimi Hendrix, as Townshend and Hendrix each refused to go on after the other, both having planned instrument-demolishing conclusions to their respective sets.
"A Quick One, While He's Away", the title track of The Who,s second album, is a nine-minute suite of song snippets telling a story of infidelity and reconciliation, a first foray into extended form that led to the so-called "rock operas" Tommy and Quadrophenia.

Alweer het derde bezoek dit jaar aan het mooie muziektheater Tivoli/Vredeburg .
Na de Tedeschi Trucks Band,Warren Haynes was het nu de beurt aan Jason Isbell en zijn band te 400 Unit.
Vorige optredens in Nederland en Belgie gemist ,dus deze avond om het goed te maken.

Het word bijna een traditie ,het jaarlijks bezoek aan de Lokerse Feesten.En er is dan is ook bijna altijd een (muzikale) aanleiding voor.Een muziek festival met een bijna onwaarschijnlijke programmering,tien dagen lang en voor ieder muziekliefhebber wat wils Ik zag daar voorgaande jaren o.a Jackson Brown,The Waterboys,NeilYoung Robert Plant e.a En dan dit jaar Van Morrison ,natuurlijk is Arthur dan van de partij.

Veel VM concerten meegemaakt (1974 Rotterdam De Doelen was mijn eerste) en vorig jaar in Gent mijn laatste.Veel mooie herinneringen aan prachtige optredens in De Doelen ,Carre ,De Statenhal e.a .De mooiste waren misschien toch wel in de jaren 90 in Vredenburg,optredens van zo,n twee en een half uur met veel plezier en improvisatie.

Ik denk dat ik in totaal zo,n 30/40 optredens heb meegemaakt,wat niets
is vergeleken met de echte die-hard VM fans die stad en land afreizen om

uitzondering na altijd mooie optredens.De kracht van VM is nog steeds
zijn unieke zijn stemgeluid, hij is nog steeds is staat zijn geweldige
en uitgebreide repertoire uitstekend voor het voetlicht te brengen

toeren.Deze muzikanten benaderen langzamerhand ook het niveau van

belangrijk ,ze beheersen de kunst van "zacht" spelen,een verademing. De
lange optredens zijn al weer een tijdje voorbij,maar in anderhalf uur
weet VM met 22 songs een doorsnede te geven van zijn uitgebreide
repertoire..

Een echte festivalsetlist met veel meezingers (crowdpleasers),een feestlijst noemen de echte die-hard VM fans dat.Dus geen "In The garden" etc maar toch ook prachtige nummers als By his Grace,Someone Like You,Enlightenment,The Beuaty Of The Day Gone By.
Van Morrison kreeg het toch weer voor elkaar ,hij bezorgde mij ,en de vele duizenden bezoekers een top avond.

Meestal probeer ik wel een paar nummers te filmen,maar mijn eenvoudige
toestelletje weigerde dienst.Gelukkig bleek een paar meter bij mij
vandaan Huub Kurstjens te staan een echte die-hard VM fan,En mede
dankzij hem (en nog een paar andere filmers) toch deze mooie
opnames,alsnog bedankt Huub en de andere tapers!!

Young was unable to sing because of an operation on his vocal cords.
Driven by Young's trademark fierce guitars, the song became a landmark
of the 'electric side' of his concerts. The song has been played on
nearly every tour Neil Young has done since. It has also appeared on the

Louis Daniel Armstrong (New Orleans, 4 augustus 1901 – New York, 6 juli 1971) was een Amerikaans jazztrompettist, zanger en entertainer. Zijn bijnaam was Satchmo of Satch, een afkorting voor Satchelmouth (buidelmond). Hij was ook bekend als Dippermouth, net als Satchmo een referentie aan zijn grote mond. Door vrienden en collega's werd hij meestal aangesproken met Pops, een naam die hij zelf ook voor anderen gebruikte (met uitzondering van Pops Foster, die hij steevast George noemde).
Hoewel zijn carrière begon in de jaren twintig, kennen zelfs huidige generaties hem nog van nummers als What a wonderful world, Hello Dolly en It takes two to tango, die hij met zijn karakteristieke, rauwe stem vertolkte.
