Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters Lokerse Feesten. 09 aug 2015.
Vuurwerk voorafgaand het optreden van Robert Plant(einde Lokerse kermis)en daarna ook vuurwerk op het podium.Wat een geweldig optreden!Klokslag 22.15 betrad Robert en zijn onder de tonen van Link Wray,s Rumble het podium en daarna gelijk Trample Under Foot van Led Zeppelin ,de toon was gezet.Een van de eerste tot de laatste minuut boeiend concert.Ik probeer altijd een paar fragmentjes te filmen ,maar het resultaat was vrij bedroevend.Gelukkig zijn er altijd mensen met veel geduld(en de juiste apparatuur)wel in staat mooie opnames te maken,en onderstaande samenvatting geeft een prima beeld van deze mooie avond,daarvoor mijn dank.

Jimi Hendrix - Room Full Of Mirrors (Royal Albert Hall Febr.24th 1969)P1
The Jimi Hendrix Experience during their last UK performance at the Royal Albert Hall (24/02/69). They had also performed a week earlier on the 18th at the same venue but that gig was disappointing according to some. Chas Chandler said that if he had been their manager at that time, he would have sacked the rhythm section on the spot ! Evidently the band got it together for this concert which was one of, if not the best Experience performance. Monterey of course presents the band at their most spectacular and energetic, but here, in their last months, they rose to the occasion with some breathtaking performances.

It had been announced to the press before Christmas 1968 that The Experience would be splitting up in 1969, though not on a permanent basis. These concerts were obviously of great importance to the band, seeing as London was where they had begun, so it was decided that the event should be filmed. After the two gigs there, Jimi had mentioned to the press that the recordings would be released at some point in time.

According to the liner notes, Cocker needed to put together a band quickly for a U.S. tour that his management had organized. Russell recruited the musicians, many from his prior dealings with Delaney and Bonnie (Rita Coolidge, Carl Radle, Jim Price, Jim Horn, Jim Keltner and Jim Gordon). Chris Stainton was held over from Cocker's Grease Band and Cocker's producer Denny Cordell was part of the backing vocalists

Jan Akkerman - Puccini,s Cafe (randomplay)
Je zet je mediaplayer op randomplay en laat het een willekeurig nummer uit je uitgebreide verzameling afspelen.Uiteraard kom ik dan ook Jan Akkerman tegen....
Puccini,s Cafe ,van het gelijknamige album. Het album kwam uit in 1993 op EMI Records.Was een lange tijd niet verkrijgbaar maar werd in 2002 opnieuw uitgebracht op CD. Met medewerking van Tom Dijkmam - drums&percussion,Manuel Hugas - bass,Willem Swikker - keyboards, en uiteraard Jan op gitaar en synthesizer.
Een concertjaar zonder Jan Akkerman is wat mij betreft niet compleet.Mijn eerst concert moet ergens in de jaren "60 geweest zijn in het toenmalige concertgebouw in Vlissingen(het huidige Arsenaal) met The Hunters.De laatste dit jaar in het altijd gezellige Schuttershof in Middelburg.Tussendoor natuurlijk met Focus,Brainbox,vele malen solo,en de laatste tijd met Eric Vloeimans en My Brainbox.Altijd zeer de moeite waard en hoop er nog veel mee te maken.

Van Morrison Live at the Orphanage (p1)Into The Mystic
Wat is mijn allermooiste Van Morrison nummer? Moeilijke vraag,Van heeft zo veel moois geschreven dat deze vraag voor mij bijna niet te beantwoorden is ,maar mede door mooie herrineringen die bij deze song naar boven komen denk ik toch dat Into The Mystic hoog zal scoren. Gelukkig staat het tegenwoordig weer op de setlist en afgelopen zomer in Peer konden we het nummer weer horen in een prachtig nieuw arrangement,het was een hoogtepunten van dat bijzondere optreden.
Onderstaande fragment is van een optreden op 29 July 1974 in The Orphanage,Into The Mystic in zijn originele uitvoering.

Into The Mystic songfacts...
"Into the Mystic" was recorded during the Moondance sessions at A&R Recording Studios in New York City in September to November 1969. Elliott Scheiner was the engineer.
The lyrics are about a spiritual quest, typical of Morrison's work. "Bass thrums like a boat in motion, and the song comes back to water as a means of magical transformation." "At the very end Van sings: too late to stop now, suggesting that the song also describes an act of love." (This phrase would become a key point of many live concerts.) Compared to "Yesterday" by The Beatles, It has been described as "another song where the music and the words seem to have been born together, at the same time, to make one perfectly formed, complete artistic element.“
Morrison remarked on the song: "'Into the Mystic' is another one like 'Madame Joy' and 'Brown Skinned Girl'. Originally I wrote it as 'Into the Misty'. But later I thought that it had something of an ethereal feeling to it so I called it 'Into the Mystic'. That song is kind of funny because when it came time to send the lyrics in WB Music, I couldn't figure out what to send them. Because really the song has two sets of lyrics. For example, there's 'I was born before the wind' and 'I was borne before the wind', and also 'Also younger than the son, Ere the bonny boat was one' and 'All so younger than the son, Ere the bonny boat was won' ... I guess the song is just about being part of the universe.

Claude Hay & The Gentle Enemies - Peerock 26 July 2015

Hoewel Claude meestal solo optreed(one man band)had hij deze keer nog twee muzikanten meegenomen uit Australie (Ryan -bass en Marcus - drums)De bezoekers van het festival hadden daarom het voorrecht Claude tweemaal te kunnen zien optreden ,eerst solo en later op de avond als Claude Hay & The Gentle Enemies
Daarna mochten de boys relaxen en uitslapen bij Arthur in s Gravenpolder (de honden hadden er drie vrienden bij) daarna

Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion - Gent Jazz Festival 17- 7- 2015
Ginger Baker - drums,Andy Sheppard -sax,Alac Dankworth(bass) Abass Dodoo-percussion
Het doel van de reis naar Gent was uiteraard Van Morrison ,van Ginger Baker,s Jazz Confusion wist ik niet wat ik moest verwachten. Het werd een mooi optreden,het zware muzikanten en prive leven hebben zijn sporen bij Ginger achtergelaten,maar eenmaal achter de drumkit is daar weinig van te merken.
Een geweldige interaktie tussen perscusionist en drummer,superbassist Alec Dankworth (welbekend bij de VM fans) en beheerste spel van saxofonist Andy Sheppard zorgden voor een mooi concert.
Bij het beeindigen van de set ging het mis ,Ginger viel van zijn drumpodiumpje.Desondanks kwam de oude krijger toch nog terug ,Why was de toegift ,opgedragen aan zijn ernstsig zieke zus.
Samen met het geweldige VM concert wat even later zou volgen werd het een zeer gedenkwaardige avond .........
