 Electric Ladyland is the third and final studio album by English-American rock band the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in October 1968 by Reprise Records. The double album was the only record from the band that was produced by Jimi Hendrix. By mid-November, it had charted at number one in the US, where it spent two weeks at the top spot. Electric Ladyland was the Experience's most commercially successful release and their only number one album. It peaked at number six in the UK, where it spent 12 weeks on the chart.

Vandaag is de 100ste geboortedag van McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913 – April 30, 1983), beter bekend als Muddy Waters.Muddy R.I.P
Muddy Waters, pseudoniem van McKinley Morganfield (Issaquena County (Mississippi), 4 april 1913 - Westmont (Illinois), 30 april 1983)

Prachtig concert van Muddy Waters in de nadagen van zijn lange muziekcarriere.
En wat voor een band,bestaande uit topmuzikanten uit de bleusscene met Calvin Jones - Bass,Luther,,Guitar,,Johnson - Gitaar,Pinetop Perkins - Piano,Willy,,Big Eye,,Smith - Drums,en twee betrekkelijk nieuwkomers met nog een lange carriere in het vooruitzicht,Bob Margolin - Gitaar en Jerry Portnoy -Harmonica.

Willekeurig nummer uit mijn Playlist (4465items,283 uur muziek)Commercieel was de band niet echt succesvol,maar kreeg toch een zeker bekendheid met onderstaand nummer. Een voorloper voor de latere progrockbands,

Although a Texas, USA-based act, Fever Tree made its mark with a tribute to the Summer of Love's host city with their 1968 anthem "San Francisco Girls (Return Of The Native)". Comprising Rob Landes (keyboards), Dennis Keller (vocals), E.E. Wolfe (bass), John Tuttle (drums) and Michael Knust (guitar), the psychedelic band formed in Houston, Texas, in the mid-60s as Bostwick Vine. The name change came in 1967 and the band subsequently signed with the Chicago-based Mainstream Records. Two unsuccessful singles were recorded, and the unit then signed to Uni Records, and recorded their self-titled debut album in 1968. "San Francisco Girls (Return Of The Native)" was penned by Vivian Holtzman, one of the band's producers. Although only a minor chart hit, it received much airplay on the new USA FM rock stations and on John Peel's Top Gear radio programme in the UK. Fever Tree recorded four albums, three of which charted in the USA, before splitting up in 1970. Interest in the band was renewed in the mid-80s psychedelic revival, and compilation albums were issued in both the USA and UK.

       Since 1977, the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival is presented annually in the Alava region of Spain during the month of July. Featuring some of the greatest iconic figures in jazz as well as showcasing many of the newer up and coming jazz talents. Large concerts during the day and exquisite jazz jam session across the city at night. Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival is an international jazz festival fan favorite.

Bob Dylan, geboren als Robert Allen Zimmerman (Hebreeuws: Shabtai Zisel ben Avraham) (Duluth, Minnesota, 24 mei 1941) is een Joods-Amerikaans popmusicus. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de grootste songwriters van Amerika. Veel mensen beschouwen hem als de eerste singer-songwriter. Hij heeft een oeuvre bij elkaar gespeeld dat op één lijn wordt gesteld met dat van Stephen Foster, Irving Berlin, Woody Guthrie en Hank Williams, die deel uitmaken van het Amerikaanse culturele erfgoed.
Paul Frederic Simon (Newark, 13 oktober 1941) is een Amerikaans zanger en liedjesschrijver. Hij was de helft van het duo Simon and Garfunkel (met Art Garfunkel), en schreef de meeste songs. Zij brachten een aantal albums uit, waaronder Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme (1966), en Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970). Ook de soundtrack van de film The Graduate (1968) bevat veel van hun muziek, waaronder het lied Mrs. Robinson.

"The Sounds of Silence" betekende de gote doorbraak voor Simon and Garfunkel Geschreven door Paul Simon na de moord op President John F. Kennedy op 22 November 1963.

Bob Dylan and Paul Simon hebben veel overeenkomsten, allebei geboren in 1941 en beide behorend tot de twee grootste singer/songwriters van onze tijd.
Hun beider carriere begon in de 1960’s Greenwich Village folk music scene.

Het nummer werd uitgebracht op het album Pat Garett & Billy the Kid, de soundtrack van de gelijknamige film van Sam Peckinpah, uitgebracht in juli 1973, waarvoor Dylan de muziek schreef en waarin hijzelf de rol speelt van "Alias".
