Peter Quaife (Tavistock, 31 december 1943 - Herlev, 24 juni 2010)
Ik kreeg zojuist het bericht dat afgelopen Donderdag Peter Quaife overleden is.
Peter Alexander Greenlaw Quaife was een Brits basgitarist. Quaife was één van de medeoprichters van The Kinks.Zeker in de jaren 60 een van mijn favoriete BritPop Bandjes Nadat hij deze groep in 1969 verlaten had, vormde hij een nieuwe country-rockgroep, Maple Oak. Toen bleek dat de eerste singles van deze groep geen hits werden, verliet hij in 1971 de muziekindustrie.

Martin Fay (September 19, 1936 – November 14, 2012) was an Irish fiddler and bones player, and a former member of The Chieftains.
In 1962 he became one of the founding members of The Chieftains. In 2001, he decided to stop touring with The Chieftains, limiting his appearances with the group to events in Ireland. He subsequently retired in 2002. He died in Cabra, Dublin, Ireland. He had been ill for some time.

In October 1987 traden Van & The Chieftains samen op in de Balmoral Studio in Belfast. Het concert werd uitgezonden op St. Patrick's Day in 1988.

The Chieftains en Van Morrison hadden jaren eerder elkaar ontmoet op het Edinburgh rock festival. Ze troKken samen op in Belfast tijdens Morrison's No Guru tour en daarna ontstond het plan om samen een album op te nemen .Het resultaat was het prachtige album Irish Hearbeat,bestaande uit traditionele Irish songs en twee Van Morrison composities.

Lyle Pearce Lovett (geb 1 November 1957) is een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter en akteur. Hij is sinds 1980 aktief,nam 13 albums op,en bracht 21 singles uit,inclusief zijn hit in de U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, "Cowboy Man". Lovett won 4 Grammy Awards,werd gekozen tot de beste mannelijke Country zanger en een van zijn albums It's Not Big It's Large uit 2007 kwam op nummer twee in de Top Country Albums chart.

Lovett's muziek carriere begon als songwriter,maar hij tekende al snel bij MCA Records en in 1986 kwam hij al met zijn debuut album.Hoewel hij dikwijls geassioceerd word met het countrygenre is zijn repetoire veel breder ,zijn muziek is een mix van folk, swing, blues, jazz , en traditionele country & Western.Winnaar van 4 Grammy Awards, incl. Deze post is voor Gerrit,mijn blogvriend uit het hoge noorden.Behalve liefhebber van de muziek van Willy Deville ,Van,Neil e.a heeft Gerrit ook groene vingers.
