It was included on the band's 1973 album The Captain and Me and released as a single, becoming a top 10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 8.

I had the pleasure of seeing The Doobie Brothers perform once, in the mid-1970s at a festival at the Hilversum racecourse. The Doobie, with Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on guitar, lots of fireworks at a festival with dream programming. From the Netherlands Alquin and Earth & Fire, and also The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Tim Buckley, The Allman Brothers (more than 3 hours). Van Morrison's performance was cancelled.
