"Long Black Veil" hoorde ik waarschijnlijk voor het eerst in de uitvoering van The Band.Maar ik heb het nummer ondertussen tijdens mijn vele concertbezoeken al diverse keren voorbij zien komen.De laatste keer nog tijden het prachtige concert van Gillian Welsh en David Rawlings in Antwerpen(de toegift)."Long Black Veil"is een country ballad,in 1959 geschreven door Danny Dill en Marijohn Wilkin en voor het eerst op de plaat gezet door Lefty Frizzell
