Joe Ely (2-9-1947 1947) Amarillo, Texas) is een Amerikaanse singer/songwriter en gitarist,met raakvlakken aan honky-tonk, country en rock and roll.
Hij heeft een zeer veelzijdige carriere en trad op met Bruce Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, Los Super Seven, The Clancy Brothers , James McMurtry The Clash , Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, en Guy Clark.
