Fairport Convention - Sloth (2002/1970)

                               David Cyril Eric Swarbrick (5 April 1941 – 3 June 2016)

One of my favorite Fairport Convention songs and certainly one of the most beautiful movies of this band on my blog. Rehearsal for the performance for the Cropredy Festival (which would take place a few days later) in a very relaxed atmosphere. Dave Swarbrick excels on his violin , beautiful bass solo by Dave Pegg, beautiful guitar work by Richard Thompson and special guest Jerry Donahue, and beautiful modest vocals by Simon Nicol and Rick Sanders More beautiful ...

Sloth P1

Sloth is from the fifth album of Fairport Convention. Sandy Denny and Ashley Hutchings had left the band and the group was reorienting.

Richard Thompson and David Swarbrick wrote most of the songs and also provided the vocals. The price number of the album is Sloth, written by the entire band and every band member has the opportunity to show his musical skills.

Sloth p2

Chorus)
Just a roll, just a roll
Just a roll on your drum
Just a roll, just a roll
And the war has begun

Now the right thing's the wrong thing
No more excuses to come
Just one step at a time
And the war has begun

(Chorus)

She's run away, she's run away
And she ran so bitterly
Now call to your colours, friend
Don't you call to me

(Chorus)

Don't you cry, don't you cry
Don't you cry upon the sea
Don't you cry, don't you cry
For your lady and me

(Chorus)
(Chorus)
